Rang twice today, 9am and 3.30pm. Does not leave a message.

Caller: They call themselves AGL marketing

After receiving relentless number of calls from this number I decided to answer…
She knew my first name (she had a Filipino accent), and started to offer me an AGL competitive no lock-in contract for 12months and no exit fees! It sounded to good to be true and no telemarketer would call to offer something for less without a catch…

I was polite and when I said no and that I’ll probably be looking for another provider soon anyways, she immediately hung up mid sentence…
Just goes to show that they were not genuine…
I will just block this number as sick of receiving 2 calls a day from them - which is almost bordering on harassment…

If this is AGL’s idea of marketing they need to review their strategy… as it’s a big turn off both for existing customers and potential customers…

Spammed number telemarketing AGL upgrades and products

I am glad not to answer this phone number until I check with Reverse Australia.

When I questioned whether this was truly AGL, the gas company we use, calling or a scammer the Philippino-sounding man said, “No worries” and hung up immediately.

Caller: Says AGL

I received a phone call (02) 8229 5864 this morning . She claimed to be AGL with Indian accent, offering lower gas rates and asking for surname, address and Medicare card number. I called AGL at 131245 later and asked them if they called me earlier. AGL said they did call me and my gas plan has been changed to the lowest available rates. Seems like that's a genuine call.

Caller: A lady with an indian accent

Called to offer a discounted gas rate. Questioned her whether this was a scam call (based on information provided on this site). She was able to provide details noone else would know. Called AGL afterwards on their maim line to verify the authenticity of the call. AGL confirmed it was a genuine call and we are signed up to reduced rates.

He claimed to be from AGL and new my name, offered a $125 credit if I changed plans, when I said I would check the details online he hung up. I have logged this number with ACMA

Constantly calling me at least once or twice a day

Caller: Claimed to be AGL Rep

Received multiple calls in last 4 weeks from this same number, finally picked one today, I told him I am busy and going for a meeting, please send me an email, he didn't stop, kept speaking the script he had. I hung up on him, considering it a scam. He called me back and was very rude, actually told me that "Did you just hung up on me? Don't do it, I was in the middle my sentence. Don't hung up on me okay". (Very loud and rude)
So, I hung up on him again :D

Caller: A man with overseas accent

The number (02) 8229 5864 appears on my phone screen but the call appears to be from overseas. Say can save money for me etc... I said I am busy and hand up the phone.

A man called me claiming to be AGL, and that with new government taxes there was a rise in my gas bill. With this new rise, he said AGL is offering a discount and wants to “purchase” my current plan and sell me a new one and I will received $250 credit.

I told him that doesn’t make any sense for a private company to do that and there is no logical reasoning. He said that a lot of customers are switching providers and that’s why they are doing it.

Hung up after that because no energy company would ever do that lol

Said they were AGL and would give me a $300 credit and better rates. Wanted a one time passcode that she sent me, this is when I said no as my phone came up with your call being a scam. She yelled and said now you wont get a $600 credit. I went on to AGL and yes there were better plan rates but that was not from this caller, they were there all the time but I didn't have time to check rates until now. The text with the 1 time code came from AGL Energy but when I changed my plan and chatted on line the 1 time code they sent came from AGL not AGL Energy, so it is a scam from this number.

Called but did not leave message. Ive been recently scammed and this was a follow up, highly likely a phising for more personal info
