Don't call back. That's verifying for them they have a fish on the line. Delete and block.

Same scam as reported by others - British voice calling from Australian Federal Police on behalf of ATO. Warrant has been issued for my arrest.

I received a call which was left on my DO NOT CALL REGISTERED/silent number landline this morning. A well educated sounding male voice left a message with words to the effect, "this matter had been listed for execution and to contact the Taxation Office (not ATO or Australian Tax Office) on (02) 8103 2024. Do not ignore". I called back and went straight through a voicemail, where I left them a nasty message of their own. I consider these kind of scams should be pursued aggressively; a lot of vulnerable people are frightened into giving personal details, money etc by these a**holes. I checked the ATO's website and they list a number of different types of scams, and also advise that they never contact people 'threatening arrest' etc. Penalties for this sort of thing should be extremely harsh.

A man speaking in a posh British accent left a message which threatened me with legal action and arrest, and told me to ring the taxation office on (02) 8103 2024. He finished by saying "Don't ignore". I have reported this message to Scamwatch. It makes me very angry to think people can send messages like this and get away with it, so ignore such messages!

The number 028132024 left a message on my answering machine. An automated person saying I am under arrest for a legal case. Also to ring the taxation office and left the stated number for me to ring. Which I didn't as I am unsure who they are arresting as no name is mentioned LOL Naturally a scam. My concern is the elderly people that will be scared about this call. Reading other comments on here no one answers their phone when the said number is rung back. So, that is a bonus!

I answered the phone from this number, its a recorded message saying its the AFP acting on behalf of the ATO. It says you have a tax debt and to ring the number back before the Sheriffs come and arrest you.
