call from an American guy saying a warrant was out for me for unpaid taxes. Must be a scam

Received 2 calls today left on my answering machine about tax fraud and threat of arrest. The person sounded asian and having read the other posts here will be ignoring as I believe if the ATO wanted to contact me they would do it by post.

So got home and yes the message about owing money and tax fraud was on my phone. Have had this before and just ignored it but today was just fed up with it so l rang them back. 3 Times to be exact. asked him how did he like being harassed by a complete stranger, told him in he needs to get a job and stop doing this then told him in language know all over the world not to call my no again. he didn't appear to appreciate my return calls to him.

I was stupid enough to follow through and got screwed over lost a couple of thousand they got me good Do not listen to any messages they leave absolutely furious

I've had this laughably ridiculous call twice now.

Apparently I should be in jail by now but here I am, still on the loose.

I sincerely hope these bottom feeding scum are caught and end up where they're threatening to send me.

Missed call went to messagebank. Some rubbish about warrants out for my arrest, due to tax evasion. Shoddy. Very shoddy.

Yes this guy, sound's like an Asian with American Accent called and threatened arrest for non-payment of taxes and claimed I had not responded to mail. I didn't know what to think for a moment, until I looked up this number. Thank you to all the others here who said fake scammer. Yes it certainly is.

rang the number, asked if they are ATO, they said yes. I said which city am I calling knowing full well which number I'd called and their response was how did you get the number. Said I Googled the ATO number and rang the number. Then asked what city I had called, and they said I should know. Then said I think I've called Melbourne and they said, yes you have called Melbourne. So I asked how was weather in Melbourne and they hung up... dodgy assbags

Indian guy, when I rang back he answered with Australian Taxation Office. Been getting them a lot from all different numbers and it's really getting annoying. (02) 8103 2012. Scam.

I received a message on my answering machine from an ATO scammer too.

2ND TIME I'VE HAD THIS MESSAGE LEFT ABOUT TAX FRAUD...VERY UPSETTING AND AM SICK TO DEath of this spam crap

Scammers don't reply if it they were a genuine call would leave a contact name and say exactly where they are from.

Couldn't understand message, but something about being arrested and being taken to court etc, etc. Very unpleasant

Message about tax evasion and subsequent prosecution. It's just a recorded message which used to be from an indian woman, but is now a man with american accent.
The call came from 1300 121 816.

This is the third time these disgruntled people have called to arrest me for tax fraud. Currently still free and able to inform you , that the real Australian Tax Office, is on to them. Please report them to the fraud section. I was advised to ask for a meeting place to settle the debt. They don't want to actually meet you, incase the police are there. It takes all kinds, these are the bottom dwellers.

I'm also thinking this is a scam. They had had some letters returned from an old address of 7 years ago and were calling with an automated message about a warrant out for my arrest. I called back and it all seemed very scammy. Not sure what to think.

Yep, got the same message when I answered my elderly parents phone. Just some guy running his mouth about tax evasion and accounts being suspended and other total rubbish. No chance to respond, just hung up. Even though I knew it was a complete scam, I appreciated checking this site to confirm.
