I had some one ring my silent number house phone yesterday wishing to talk to my husband and they are from AGL. I said I am the wife and they can talk to me. They responded that No they have it written down to only to talk to husband. This is really strange as the account is in both our names. We do not have any outstanding amounts as our bills are all paid in full. This is so weird as they wouldn't give me any information as to why they rung. I was wondering if this is some kind of scam.

i am so sick of these calls! i don't even have an account with AGL, yet they call me 10 times a day, and even on weekends! they never leave messages either...

I'm receiving constant automated calls from AGL asking for someone I don't know. I'm not a customer. I've rung AGL for the third day in a row and been told that they've removed my number from their register. How did they get the mobile number in the first place? Is it a scam?

This is AGL calling about an overdue bill. In my case a gas bill. You don't speak to a person, it's a robot asking to confirm your DOB and then tells you how much you own AGL on a bill and gives you 3 options asking if you've already paid the bill, if you want to pay it now or if you'll pay the bill within the next 6 days.
No contact with humans, just an automated service to stop your gas/electricity being cut off/sent to debt collectors I'd imagine

Keeps calling me but I only answer numbers I know due to being stalked and they never leave a message... If I get calls from a number persistently and no message left, I simply block the number and I don't give a sh*t who they are! If it is AGL they should be leaving messages and I certainly won't give my details out to a cold caller... Stupid system if it is AGL!!!

It's an AGL robot call. But it's very sus. I would never tell a robot my personal details! They do nothing to prove who they are, this is a rich trick for scammers to copy!!
I've had 6-7 calls a day even after I paid my bill. At one point, I had a bill dispute and they froze all letters/texts/calls while investigating... But then they started again before the investigation finished. I get calls for days before the paper bill even arrives. It's ridiculous!
I've complained about their texts before, now it's time to complain about the calls. And then change gas providers.
Hopeless, AGL. Way to lose customers.

My wife recieved a text message from that number asking her to call AGL urgently. Problem is, they spelled her name totally wrong. Suspect it wasn't AGL.

I do not have an AGL account. They rang 3 times yesterday and each time I rang AGL and asked for them to remove my number. I was assured I would not be bothered again. This morning this number pops up (they previously hid the caller ID). I am FED UP AGL!! This is harrassment and something needs to be done.

It's AGL I've owed them money every month coz I don't pay on time, this is definatly AGL. They need to confirm 2 points of ID over the phone before they can proceed with the message.

This scam is still happening - got a call from this number yesterday, they had my name and date of birth. Two weeks ago got a text from 61 416 905 141, figured it was spam since my phone normally lists a "+" in front of real phone numbers. It listed a small amount as overdue, said to call 1300 658 955. Not impressed - where the f@&$ did they get my details from?

Not a scam! Definitely AGL. BUT, to feel comfortable, hang up and call your known AGL service line. Then you know you're safe.

I wrongly thought this to be a scam but it is legitimate. If an AGL (gas or electricity) bill is overdue, in my case by three days it is an automated reminder. It announces your name then asks for your date of birth to confirm the message.
