Its a viral telemarketing call, just calls & hang up before you can answer, targets mobile pohones.  They jhave been annoying me for last few days.If you call this number then a recorded voice message will direct you to  1300 305 515.Anybody got a fax machine handy??

JS

same as GP and Dan, they hung up when I answered

Aegon Direct Marketing services is a a disgrace. They go through staff like crazy if you dont make enough sales a day to keep them satisfied. The place is dodgy do not answer the phone calls. I use to work for them.

I am fairly sure that this is a follow-up to the Commonwealth Bank sending out their insurance offer. They sent me an offer last year and I shortly got a call from this number stating that they were following up to see if I was interested. My memory is that they introduced themselves as acting for the bank rather than being the bank itself. I told them I wasn't interested and that was the end of it. I received another insurance offer from the Commonwealth Bank a couple of weeks ago and, yep, you guessed it - the calls started again. To my home landline and my mobile. When I tried to answer a call from this number to my mobile, there was no response and then the line cut out (hangup by them?). I also got many calls to my home landline in quick succession on the same day when I was not home. I decided to google the number, got this great website and the confirmation of what I suspected anyway. I am going to see how long it continues for a while and then will complain to the Commonwealth Bank. I imagine that this would be far more effective than trying to complain to a non-responsive marketing organisation.

I can only assume that you work for Aegon or another telemarketer.

The "sales agent" will likely state or imply that they work for CBA or MBF or similar. Aegon staff are trained in what they call their "No, No, and Go" policy, which means that they will not take no for an answer. They will only terminate the call after the recipient says "no" twice. This is illegal. (See Section 7.1.a. of http://www.acma.gov.au/webwr/_assets/main/lib100844/dnc_tis_standard_2007.pdf )

Aegon does not provide a telephone number on its website.

Aegon staff identify themselves as working for MBF/CBA etc, rather than as Aegon staff.

Please complain to ACMA: 1300 792 958

Also, you could complain direct to Aegon. Their normal phone number is 1300 796 170, but those staff will pretend to be the parent company. (If you have plenty of time, ask the staff member who they work for, then when they inevitably fail to mention Aegon, ask them who pays their wage.)

Instead, call (02) 8207 9000 and ask for Natasha, Head of Customer Contact. If you want, mention that Peter gave you her phone number. I wouldn't say that we're friends, but we are certainly familiar with one another's voices. Don't expect any decent response from Aegon. They believe that their staff are doing the right thing. I just like wasting their time.

Cheers,
Peter
