I've been getting a call on my mobile every afternoon/evening for the past two weeks until recently. The first time they hang up as I was answering. So after that I didn't bother answering. Now it makes sense.A. I have an automatic monthly Visa debit with Red Cross.B. My old Visa card expires in 3 days, and I have been sent a replacement.

Had a call from a woman claiming to be from the Red Cross.  Said my regular debit had bounced (I do have a regular amount going to the Red Cross).  Asked if I had a new card, which I do.  I stupidly gave my new card details, then when I checked my banking I found that the monthly amount had in fact gone thru.  Now I think she was dodgy.

I think they are legit as I was thinking the other day why no one has called from red cross to updateMy details. I lost my card and got a new one sent. I have also had a couple of calls from this number.

John.

Just got a call asking me to update details. Seemed legit. They said my credit card would be expiring soon (it is) and asked if I had my new card for updating yet. They knew how much I was donating and my other details. They also knew that my payment for this month had already gone through. In any case I gave them details for a different card (didn't ask for 3 digit security number). I realised afterwards that I may have been scammed so I called Red Cross and asked them to confirm to me that my details had been updated. Waiting to hear back (has only been a few minutes as of writing).N.B. They signed me up to donate on the street, and I think I had to give the security number then. A bit dodgy, really. Also, I'm very trusting apparently.

funny you say this, I received a call a few days ago about the exact same thing.... my automatic debit had ceased and would I like to get it going again.
I refused to give my card details, I asked her to send paperwork in the mail, she said she couldn't do it.

Tonight I received another call from this number, but they hung up when I answered it, so I googled the number and I see this thread here.

The lesson would be to never give credit card details to somebody who has phoned you.
