Hi, I got this same call today - I new it was a scam & bluff him by saying I did not have a computer at home & we use company computers. I asked for a local number and I got 8091 5005 which cannot be connected - Do not give them any details

Same as above, except they called my mum today. My mum was spooked because they knew that we had our computer on, and that we had 57 errors for corrupt files. My mum let them onto the remote computer, and they showed the anti virus wasn't working. But when they asked for credit card details so they could fix it, mum shut the remote computer kicking them off. The guy was the supervisor, and his name was Max Dalton. He said that he was from the Windows Service System centre, and he had an indian accent. He said he was from Sydney, and gave my mum this number. He called back twice, even after my mum hung up. Luckily he wasn't on the computer long enough to give us any real damage because after we scanned the computer, we found that he had put 200 errors on the computer. They sound very knowledgeable, but do not be scammed! We nearly were, and that's scary. My Dad called back, and went off at him, and we reported it. We also called Microsoft and Optus, and they told us it was a scam because they do not call you about errors on your computer. Just take it to your local technician, do not trust them! They had turned our antivirus off which is why we had gotten the errors.

Just had same call as above. Unfortunately a guy called Mick with Indian accent, based in manchester, spoke to my son as I was out and my son spent 20 mins on the phone. luckily he couldn't answer all their questions so 'Mick' phoned again. Exactly the same process as above. he said he was a microsoft employee and he would transfer me to Windows engineer. They wanted to remote log in to my computer....DODGY!!!! DO NOT LET THEM IN!

Just had a similar call. I also had a call about a month ago and told the Indian sounding man that I no longer had a computer and he put the phone down on me. Then about 15 minutes ago somebody phoned and wanted me to sit at my computer so he could explain why my files were being corrupted. I said I was busy but he pushed me for a time when I would be available. I said Saturday PM but reading the other comments, I'll start to question him instead of the other way round.

I just had the same phone call and told the Indian woman that she was telling me a load of old rot. I have the pro version of Kaspersky on my computer and if there were corrupted files it would show up without a problem. These calls are aimed at the vulnerable web user in the hope they will pay for some crappy cleaner, or worse still so that they can put some nasty tracking cookie onto your computer. I asked the caller to tell me who she was working for and she hung up. It's a scam.

Same experience as others. Asian lady asking for me to access certain files on my computer as there are virus about to attack my computer. She said she was calling from windows service centre (Doesn't exist). Do not follow their instructions as windows is a product not a company.
