9.45pm. just had a call from an Indian man at night telling me my computer was at risk. He asked me to turn on my computer and to press the control+ windows and R keys on the keypad.  I pretened to do this. I asked the name of the company, its address and phone number. he told me it was in Chatswood NSW and the address was 1 Alpine street, i did not trust him said so.   I hung up. then I got another call from a lady saying she was the technical department of Windows service Centre  and my computer was in trouble. she said her name was Lucy. Not a good indian sounding name. I said i thought the company was a scam. she got angry with me. I hung up. I was googling the address and found this site while she was telling me this. She gave me the phone number (02) 6100 4030  this could not be a number from Chatswood NSW

I had a similer call from (02) 8091 5002 by someone called James Kasper. I was dumb to follow his instructions but didn's sign a registration form as he wanted me to.  I said had no time at the moment.What do i do?  Could he have done something to my PC remotely.HELP

Received 2 calls yesterday, one male one female (Wendy) both indian sounding.  When the male rang my hubby told them we didn't have a computer and the male hung up on him, when the female rang she asked for my hubby by name and told him they had his name registered in their system and that we had downloaded some corrupt files.  What a load of crock. My husband has to be the most comupter illiterate person I know, none of the software we have on our computer is registered in his name.  Luckily he just took the name and contact details and left it up to me to look into.

Hi, I got this same call today - I new it was a scam & bluff him by saying I did not have a computer at home & we use company computers. I asked for a local number and I got 8091 5005 which cannot be connected - Do not give them any details

mAX dAWSON (INDIAN ACCENT) RANG ME  yesterday wanting me to type EVENTVWR into the RUN program, so he could find out why 'windows' had been getting so many error messages from my computer, and that i had corrupted files, he ended up getting quite annoyed at me as I wouldn't do as he said, and kept asking him lots of questions. he said he was ringing from chatswood Sydney . i hung up

Don't pick up the phone and give them any time.  If your computer sends error messages, it would be to Microsoft and your computer system isn't linked to your phone number.  I would suggest not answering any calls from any number you do not recognize.  As I stated in another blog about another harassing call, if you have call privacy, put your phone directly into voice mail when you are not home - anywhere from 1 - 24 hours is an option.  That stops them as they get nowhere.   Don't enable them by conversing.  They are ignorant and are looking to crack into personal information.  Who knows, maybe it's connected to identify theft for immigrants :)  One never knows.  Lock your doors, secure your computer, and get some heavy duty malicious software detection on your computer.  Failing that, get a MAC as Apple is inpenetrable.  That's what I've been told.
