I just received a call from this number, announced myself, and waited, then all I heard was an automated message saying "Sorry, that is not a valid something. Please try again"

Same Story as others here. Before now the number was always private. Quiet often just silence, then disconnection. I stopped answering private calls. Other times an Indian accented women, claiming I could get cheap accommodation. She wont take no for an answer and you almost have to be rude to get rid of her.

Had a call from this number at 6:30pm tonight.  An Indian-accented gent who knew my surname proceeded to tell me that my computer was sending a lot of error messages and was having a lot of problems (it isn't), and that he could fix it for me "right in front of me".  I hung up before I could work out what he was selling.Beware!

My daughters father is meant to be in the UK on holidays, he called her this morning to wish her a Merry Christmas and the caller Id showed: (02) 8090 2200.  Is this a number people can CHOOSE to have show as their number?  How does it work?  I tried calling it back and got the recording saying "Your call could not be connected, please check the number and try again"

Does anyone know how this is possible for him to call from this number???

I just got a call from (02) 8090 2200 was in the garden had to run to answer it hung up before i got to it pressed *10# could have fallen and hurt myself so i decided to see where it was coming from the number that is when I put it into Google didnt I get a surprise to see all the complaints about (02) 8090 2200

Just had a call from this number. Heavily accented man, who knew my last name.
Said something about which telephone account I have and that they were testing the lines (or something). I hung up.
I reported it to Telstra, just in case I'm getting charged for this call.
Didn't give out any personal details thank goodness!!
