Claimed to be Jay from the Commonwealth Bank. Knew my first name, but strange, I don't have any accounts with the CBA. Must be using CBA like some scammers use Telstra, thinking that most people will have an account.

I didn't provide my email address to the caller... but they had it. Email that came to me was from a @cba.com.au email address.
Called them back via the phone number provided... 100% legitimate. To those here saying it's a scam, visit here... https://www.commbank.com.au/support/faqs/1265.html

Caller: CBA This was a genuine call from CommBank in relation to ID verification. This was in response to my application for a business account.
I don't know why there are so many idiots who are reporting this as a SCAM or so. No guys, just call the bank or go to any CBA branch and ask, you would know that it was a genuine call.

This is legitimate, they are calling from Commonwealth Bank - KYC (Know Your Customer) Which is based around getting to know their customers better, unsure why they need this information as everything is already monitored by them anyway but it is legitimate.

Caller: Claimed to be Rochelle I have had a few missed calls over the past 2 months from (02) 8055 4001. Today Rochelle left a voicemail saying please call commonwealth bank on 1300 103 907 (which is a legit commbank number https://www.commbank.com.au/support.banking.customer-verification-services-team.html). I also received an email from KYC @ cba.com.au with a reference number. I did phone the number and it seems legit (it's also on their website). I asked them what they needed from me - The email says "re-verification of your identification documents". I told her i wasn't comfortable giving anything over the phone and I would prefer to do it in a branch, if anything. She said to take my DL or passport to a local branch. Even if this is real, this is odd. I have been banking with Commbank for 30 years, why would I need to provide this to them all of a sudden??

Caller: CBA I'm always suspect abit paranoid these days with scams. I missed the call but minutes later got a message advising me to check my email, which I did. Email from CBA asking me to call with details of business I am currently doing with them. I called back, go an indian accent ...'m not racist, my SIL is Indian but so many scams with that accent :( ... and thought, "Oh, here we go!" I gave him the reference number and he asked my name. I said he should have it and he explained he needed it to send me verification through the commbank app. I provided my name, waited for the verification message and went from there. All above board and you can safely respond to that number from my experience.
