Caller hung up when I answered

Unfamiliar number, didn't answer, googled straight away, and ended up here.

Caller: SCAM

Guy called advising from Optus. He said he could offer me an upgrade of my phone. I said I was happy with my phone. So he then offered to find me a better month to month plan. He read to me my number (the one he called me on), then proceeded to read out my full name and part of my date of birth (day & month), then asked me to confirm the year.. I told him if he was from optus he would know. He said he needed me to advise it to confirm my identity.... SCAM. I hung up after this. Very believable (Especially if you are with Optus and are due to get a new plan/phone....

This number keeps calling but doesn't leave a message. I'm blocking it

Went to this Website and now feel glad that I didn’t answer. My Contract with Optus has expired by the way. Will Block the number now.

This number rang left no message

Rang me on this number - just seemed super pushy and fast.
Had all my details inc accurate contract, type of phone, full name, and date of birth.
When I got suspicious and said I need to call you back he just went completely off me, seemed very unprofessional
What to do if I confirmed my date of birth with them? That is all I said yes to.

Hi Anonymous, I just got one of the above calls you mention. I didn't answer just said it was from Sydney, had an (08) area code not a mobile number. I am with Optus, but no message left. Just don't answer them anymore I figure if it's important I will have a message left, if not too bad. Annoying tho. Thanks for your info.

Calls have started again.
They ring over and over again but don’t leave a message.

Said they were from Optus and that they wanted to help me with updating my contract which was about to expire. I wouldn't give them any details and they said they couldn't help me further.

Got the call, started feeling a bit uneasy so I hung up and called Optus direct. They confirmed it was one of theirs. Was about a contract I had that was expiring.

Easiest thing for people here to do is just say they'll call Optus direct if they feel uneasy. The sales team will just pick up from where the previous guy left off.

I sent Optus a message through my account and they have confirmed that this number is a scam, so if this number calls you please block them. I have been receiving phone calls from them for a while but haven’t answered due to anxiety and wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing calls that were important

i never answered the phone but from the comments it was an optus scam guy. my number is from optus too so it makes sense.

Definitely a scammer, I called Optus and they said definitely a scammer. If they were calling it would be from a private number or their main line 13 39 37.

Had all my details except year of birth. Asked for my driving license number and I said no. Kiwi sounding person kept saying “bro”.

Have marked this as spam - my phone doesn't even ring with some of these spam/scam phone calls, just beeps to tell me I have a missed call, never any message left

I received another call from 61 2 8049 0847 today, even though its blocked ( so I didn't pick it up). If Optus is investigating, then nothing has changed in a very long time.
