It seems this is new type of scam, the godday number is (02) 8042 8920, yes I have account with them however I never received any call like this before, they asked my credit card and access code to lookup my account but I felt suspicious about the call, I said I used FB to login and I dont know about any other thing. They said its bill related issue, I then asked why not sending me an email about it, and then the person said they will. After that I went back their site and found that (02) 8042 8921 has nothing to do with them. WATCH OUT HIS!!

Claims to be GoDaddy. It's not GoDaddy. They've only dealt with me via email.
I would consider anyone claiming in this comment thread that it is a legitimate call, that they themselves are the scammers trying to re-assure people to collect your personal data.

Caller: GoDaddy seriously guys you think its a scam? anyone with half a brain would know its either because at some stage you had a website or a domain name registered through them so they will be following up on seeing if you want to renew it.
If you have never used them then have you ever thought they have rung a number thats in there system that is old and one of the phone companies has re issued it to YOU.

Male caller called to tell me there was 'an Alert' on my domain. Asked me to verify my postcode (I did and he confirmed, but this does not mean much - could be data gathering). Knew I hosted elsewhere asked why I did (told them). I asked him to tell me about the Alert - he then said he thought my domain setting wasn't 'Private' but now saw that it was... I asked where he was calling from - Arizona. I asked him who he voted for. He shut down and we pretty much hung up then.

Caller: (02) 8042 8921 I contacted GoDaddy after receiving several calls from this number. I thought it was a legit number as their is only one digit that is different between this phone number and their Sydney support phone number. They responded, "I am really sorry but this is not a godaddy number, kindly block them."

Scam call I didn't answer after a warning on my phone. They spoofed a massive asset management company "Structured Change" that looks after Sydney public transport so would have no connection to me. The number called a year ago spoofing GoDaddy. I can't believe how many people on here saying it is legit GoDaddy.

Caller: Spherical Edge This is NOT GoDaddy.
I had my domain for 5 days and started receiving calls from this number telling me I needed to renew/had problems when I've paid for two years in advance.
Rang GoDaddy to ask if account was in order to which they replied yes.
There is a short window between when you register a domain at GoDaddy and the added privacy settings (if you pay for it, so GoDaddy gets listed as the contact on Domain Name Registry lookups) become active, as you need to set up 2 factor authentication first.
My guess is that these guys exploit that to get your contact details (including your phone number) before they're updated to show GoDaddy as the contact.

Caller: Go Daddy Legitimate call from Go Daddy. Was asked about products and if I want to renew based server and some cheap upgrades.
I logged into my account after asking the caller to check pricing. He said that he would put the items in my shopping cart to check. I saw in real time the items added to my shopping cart.
Definitely not a scam and the guy Warren was extremely pleasant to deal with and wasn't pushy in anyway at all.
