It is a scam. If anybody who calls you asking for any personal details or bank details, it's a scam. Put the phone down straight away. Better yet, get a silent number, but, don't enter competitions, etc with it as they will sell it to Telemarketers.

This number came up on home computer voice message supposedly from Microsoft advising of a virus? Rang the number, Indian guy said he was a technician and that the firewall was down on my computer. With all the scams going on I wasn't 100% sure this was legit.

Yeh - I got the "pornography spy ware detected which could access all my private details" and they could "walk me through removal details." I hung up.

The happened to last mon 5th of june ...exactly the as to Jannine. When I called the the number , this Indian guy on the other line was telling me that my computer was at risk and he is a support expert who will help by guiding me in my computer. I a sure that it is a scam as he wanted to access my computer to search the malware so I just turned of my computer and ran a full scan antivirus..

got the same 5 mins ago .... my computer was beeping and making noises (?) then an automated message came up repeating over and over that if I didn't phone this number (in Sydney), they would close my computer down and report me for pornographic material (this is when I realized it must def be a scam), so I closed down and rebooted.
