Yes - some complaint (Brisbane). Has left 2 separate messages on out answering machine. I'm sure the (02) prefix probably tricks a few people into thinking it's a genuine call.

Today, 1/05/15, there was a message on my answering machine from Kevin Shaw at the ATO HQ saying that I was accused of tax fraud and tax evasion, and that I had to immediately call his direct no. (02) 8015 2967 to avoid further legal action. Oddly however he didn't mention my name. This raised my suspicions to the highest level so I immediately Googled his number. The other comments here clearly show this to be a scam, so thanks to all the others who've posted comments here and if anyone else ends up here, be advised not to phone back and just ignore and laugh off this silly business!

Same as above. We had a message left on our answering machine. Kevin Shaw from the ATO - it must be a script that they use. We have two tax payers in this household and he did not identify which person the threat was meant for.

My answering machine recorded calls today from both Kenneth Matthews and Kevin Shaw informing me of impending legal action for tax evasion and wilful fraud.

Received 2 phone calls over the last 2 days from Kevin Shaw asking to be called back on (02) 8015 2967, who said he was from ATO I rang the ATO and reported it its a Scam

I received a call last week from Kevin Shaw saying the exact same thing each time. I rang the ATO who confirmed it was a scam. They took the details and said they would investigate. Received the second call today which I am going to ignore. Hopefully no one gets caught by these creeps.

Same recorded message left on my phone 29/4/15 threatening my arrest, warrant etc due to my 'fraud'. Kevin (Kelvin??) Shaw from "ATO HQ"- (02) 8015 2967.

My guy was named John Matthews & then Paul Williams. I thought it odd these Indian sounding guys had English sounding names. Paul Williams was very aggressive & threatening & advised me to not tell any one or it would effect my legal standing. I have to tell lots of people if someone tells me not to tell anyone & it's serious sounding stuff. The number Paul Williams called me on was (02) 6145 2528 then he provided me with the number you have listed on this site

I received a call from Kenneth Matthews from the ATO about tax evasion and needed to call back on (02) 8310 5351. Message sounded recorded, unprofessional and a scam. I used a different phone to call the number too see who answered but it wasn't connected. I hope the ATO know about it. I'll be sending them a message to advise.

Yep, he's definitely doing the rounds in Brisbane! Just picked up my ansafone message from 'Kenneth Matthews' at the ATO. Wanted someone (he didn't ask who he was calling for either) to call him back on (02) 8310 5351. He sounded like a fake from the off but I can imagine others falling for this scammer. Total scumbag! Hope the police catch him sometime very soon

Same complaint - they called my Mum a few times in Brisbane and were very aggressive. They used the names "John Matthews" and "Peter Williams". She called the ATO who were able to reassure her (and they've lodged a report apparently) but she was very scared by it all. They demanded $4000 immediately and asked for her credit card details. They said not to tell anyone and that there was a "lawsuit" outstanding against her. They accidentally used the language "IRS" and then said "ATO" when they realised. They called on (02) 6145 2528 and did give her the number (02) 8015 2967 when she asked for their number. It seems like they might be targeting women on landlines as he made the mistake of asking for a lady by a different name. I hope something is done about this because it is absolutely terrible.

They must be working Brisbane at the moment as I just got one as well. Kenneth Matthews needing me to call back on (02) 8310 5351 or I would be arrested. Presumably the ATO knows about this but I haven't seen anything on their website.

Yes we had a phone recorded message from Kevin Shaw. It had exactly the same words as above including the insincere 'have a nice day.' I would love to call them back and trick them but they are pathetic and not worth it.

My sister has been scammed as they put the fear of god into her. The case worker is Officer John Matthews claiming they have a warrant for her arrest. Phone number they gave is (02) 8015 2967. Terrible people

My 84 year old grandmother received a call yesterday from "kevin"
He said there would be police officers knocking on her door in 1 hours time if $1800 wasn't deposited into his account, otherwise she would be getting arrested on the spot for tax evasion. She ended up in shock, needing medical attention and we notified the police ASAP. The police have been extremely helpful to my nana in the last 24 hours. I hope this person/people do not get away with this and to say I'm disgusted that they came after an 84 year old is an understatement!
