I work in IT and one of my customers reported to me that he had a similar call from a scammer who gave this same phone number, a bugus Reference id number and a password. The caller said he was from 'Microsoft'. I would like to know if any of the Australian authorities are doing anything at all to catch and deal with these scum.

These ppl are from India. I've almost traced their address of operation in India. Sooner it will be published here.

The caller from this company asked my sister to install a remote control program as she has "viruses" on her computer. She does not and they setup her computer so they can remote in whenever thwey want. Luckily I work in IT and have been able to remove the program.

Got a call from this number and it was an indian guy I think, and he said that my comp had virusses in it and microsoft were getting error messages from my comp. I played dumb and said "Oh, Really" and went on to learn more. I had to call back cause my "Computer was Upstairs" and I couldn't disconnect wall phone. So I called from my mobile with the number hidden, and before calling I googled the number. I found it to be a website selling purfume called Purfume Corner. http://perfumecorner.com.au/Default.asp?c=30725. Anyway after calling, he did not want to talk unless I was on a landline.......Told him "Were on to you sucka" and hang up with a chuckle........

My elderly parents received call stating that the caller was from MIcrosoft and there was a virus on their computer.  Fortunately they referred on to us (as we are far more computer literate) which we then investigated it ( as we knew it was suspicious) and worked out it is a scam artist! -  Get stuffed you low lives - preying on the elderly and vunerable!!
