I received a similar call a few hours ago from a Jazz Smith representing the Federal Magistrate Court in Sydney asking me to front up in court at 10:30am this Friday morning to answer to fraud charges brought up against me by CPR Global represented by a Mr James Hall.  When she had difficulty answering my probing questions, she passed the call to a Peter Grisham who stated the same thing but he was rude, aggressive & threatened me with defamation. After a lengthy call to Mr James Hall (02) 8007 4221) whereby I asked why wasn't I served a summons by registered mail and that I never had any telephone transaction with CPR Global and never gave them any banking details, he put me on hold & never rang back. He threatened that if I don't appear for the hearing I'll be arrested by the local police & extradited to Sydney & jailed without bail.  He also asked me if I needed his help as I was being sued for more than $6,000.  Maybe an out-of-court settlement?I went to my local police station to report this disturbing call and was told by the officer that it was a scam, and that I should ignore such future calls.A few minutes ago I received a call from a male Indian-sounding voice representing the local police station that two police officers would be coming to arrest me. I was asked to provide him my address! All these callers had Indian-sounding voices but with Anglicised names!Hope this helps!  Beware!

A scam. An indian guy pretending to be a lawyer saying that you are being sued for fraud and asking for money. When a real lawyer calls them back, they freak out.

I had a call as well from an Indian who had my account details and said that I was due in court. I rang James Hall Solicitors, 'James Hall' answered directly and said he was very 'high-up' and that we owed $9,200 and that I was due in court today.

TPS will not call a subscriber of the service to ask for personal details or payment to complete a registration. If you have registered via the web and have received an e-mail confirmation and clicked on the attached link, that's it! Your number will be registered for FREE with TPS. We will not contact you again in relation to your registration (unless you have number(s) registered with the Corporate TPS, where we will contact you annually by email to renew your subscription - this is still a free service). If you do receive a call from someone claiming to be from the TPS or a similar sounding organisation, asking for personal information or charging you for this service, our advice is to not pay or give them any personal details, it is most likely a scam. We are aware of a number of organisations that call from overseas, possibly India claiming to be TPS or affiliated with TPS or BT. They ask for your credit card details to complete a registration to stop unwanted calls. They often claim that you previously gave your permission for this call. This is a scam. Never give out your credit card details over the phone. Friday 9/2/2013 12.30pm, I had the same call from an Indian accent woman ( Jazz Smith ) saying I have been sued by CPR Global Direct for an unpaid debt and to ring James Hall on (02) 8007 4221 as my court hearing is on Monday at 10.30 am in Federal Magistrate Court,Sydney .When I asked how come there is no prior notification, she said it was sent in Nov'2012 but I did not receive anything. It should have "clicked" that it could be a scam, nevertheless, I was concerned & wants to get to the bottom of this alleged debt. When I rang (02) 8007 4221, the line sounds like echo in a tunnel, someone answered and the line dropped off , so I let it slipped. Two hour later the same accent woman rang back, she rattled on the same and I told her I can't get through to James Hall and for her to put through to him. Then another person came on the line, did not identified himself initially but when asked said his name is Peter Grisham, told me James Hall is on another line but Jonathan Kirk is also familiar with my case and can tell me more...and suddenly, James Hall is available and he knew my name and address and said if I don't attend the court hearing the judgement will be against me...lots of threats, playing on the uneducated mind. When I said I do not owe CPR Global Direct anything, he said " maybe you are old and do not remember. " Then I asked is he recording the conversation without my knowledge as it is an offence to do so , and added for all I know, it could be a SCAM, ...he replied " so you are teaching me the law now" and hung up.It is disgusting that these people have no conscience and don't care who they hurt and the elderly are most vulnerable. They must be stopped. They certainlly spoilt my day and a perturbed mind can't think straight..unfortunately, my wife cop it , lucky for me she is understanding!

Still happening, got one yesterday from a foreign caller saying I was due in sydney magistrates court in 2 days or that I should ring the solicitor for the company I was supposed to owe money to, ( going to charge me with fraud?!?). The solicitor I should call was Raymond Reid on 028007484. Didn't bother! I wasn't quick enough on this one usually I engage them in conversation and ask if they have a family, children, would they like their children to grow up honest people, of course they say yes, then I ask why are they setting such a bad example for them. Most hang up at that stage!
