Just received a call as everyone else here. I was given a reference number of MK112 and told to call back on this number and ask for the manager, a Pamela Peterson who will confirm my details and sent a chq for $7k+ as a refund from bank fees. Yes the guy was Indian of course, knew my name and home address and asked for my date of birth. Said i didn't need to provide anything else. Silly me gave him my DOB but I cant see that causing any problems. Any one else with info?

Tried to tell me I had refund from overcharged bank fees.

Same call to home phone today, from Federal Gvt Dept of Finance. $7000 owed to us. $190 to be paid at Post office. No thanks.

complete scam guys. beware.
they tried to scam my mother too. offering $7268 back from government overcharges. All foreign accents on phones and you can hear they are in a call centre

GOVERNMENT OWES ME $ 7000, FOR OVER CHARGING ME AND PAYING ME BACK. ALL I HAVE TO DO GET A WESTERN UNION FORM FROM POST OFFICE.
FUEL IT OUT AND SEND $198 AND THEIR WILL SEND ME A CHEQUE FOR $7000. HOW DUMD THEIR THINK WE ARE. RUNG THEM BACK AND TOLD THEM
I REPORTED IT TO THE POLICE AND THAT IS WHEN SHE HANG UP.

Just got a call to my grandmothers phone from an indian man claiming she is getting $7000 back from over charging. Couldnt give me the department he was calling from I asked for a number to call him back on which was this one. I googled it and showed up as a scam.

Lovely guy, should learn to speak English properly to be more believable - not sure how the scam works but cannot possibly be legit

My mum got called yesterday, said she had to pay legal fees of $200 and they will post a cheque in the mail for $700

Ditto, purported to be calling from federal Gov. refunding money? I am meant to call back on this number!

Just got a call from Indians in Sydney refunding overpaid banks charges through the Federal Government. Was asked to pay $198 iat Postoffice into Western Union, funny no account or name was given, which Western Union require.
BEWARE of this scam

I suggest you call consumer affairs and report this. They have too much detail and asked only for Date of Birth to be able to provide it but said they were from the Federal Government without saying where exactly.

Anyone else get a call from this number about overpayments and "going to receive a cheque for $XXXXX"? Sounds like a total scam to me, but did sound like an actual call centre in the background. Starting to wonder how many people they have in one room scamming people!
