I received call today and had the same experience as Adam Chow. The guy claimed his name was Ron from Telstra. His id number was D993357. He said if I don't do as he says my server will be disconnected for a period of 3 months. I had a feeling it was a scam as I am not with Telstra but he said as Telstra owns the service all over Australia that they can disconnect me to stop me from damaging there network. I asked for his name and ID and telephone number and said I'd ring back. I then called the number and some lady answered the phone and I told her what happened she claimed that they were in fact the Telstra Technical Dept and that this Ron actually worked there. She said if I don't do as they say my service will be disconnected immediately. I said you are not to touch it till I give them my permission and I'd ring back. I then hung up and actually Googled telstra's actual number and spoke to them and I was then informed by the real Telstra that no one by that ID number works for Telstra and they tried calling the number. Telstra then said they'd put in a report about this. I was advised that Telstra would NEVER COLD CALL ANYONE. so this number is a SCAM. THEY HACK YOUR COMPUTER. JUST HANG UP AND GIVE THEM NO INFO.

A guy with Indian accent called and said he is from Telstra. He claim our computer has virus and we must download a file otherwise they will cut off our internet. First we are not Telstra customer, second we are IT expert. So we asked for prove as Telstra employee from him and start to be mean to him. Then he asked us to shut up and saying we cannot stop him from making money....Well, we can't but he just need a better story.
