These people contacted my parents and wanted to deposit money in their account. Thankfully they did not reveal banking details. I phoned them. Angelina Cooper and John Douglas from the Reclaim Finance Department of the Australian Government. They terminated the call quickly when I asked them for their address. BEWARE

I was contacted just now from (02) 8006 7711 Reclaim Department, Australian Federal Government no less.... I advised I was going to get a cheque for money's owed to me by my bank - $6325 - lucky me, lol. When I said that I wouldn't give my bank details, I was given a case number ST137 and told to call back and ask to speak with Aneelina Cooper or John Douglas; a cheque would be issues....She, with heavy Indian accent... Was Jenny Fernandez... I called the number, for the heck of it and told that those managers were busy and to call back in 20 minutes. Scammers! They've been using this for years, must still be working for them.... Take care people. Effie, South Morang, Vic.

I received one of those calls earlier today, wrong suburb was quoted but I went along with it and gave a fictitious birth date. When asked if I wanted a cheque or direct debit for $7200.68, I requested cheque and was given Ref. ID to quote when I rang (02) 8006 7711, but to ring immediately as the line could become busy - there were 1700 people in my area who would be calling that number soon!!!!! I rang the local police - and reported the above. Half an hour later I received another call from the same man, a bit annoyed as John Douglas was waiting to get my call. Sorry John that won't happen!!!

Got a call from an man with an Indian sounding accent. Said I had a cheque due for overcharged bank fees. Asked for my birthdate to confirm my identity. I gave a false date which didn't elicit any adverse response. Said his name was John Douglas and his supervisor was Angelina Cooper and I should ring (02) 8006 7711 to enable the cheque to be sent. I asked where he was calling from and when he said Sydney, I asked what the weather was like in Sydney. He terminated the call.

Got a call. $7325 was owed. Sounded like a scam, but I called the number, spoke to John Douglas . Yes, all id correct, a cheque could be on my doorstep in 6 hours, hand delivered, if I just went to the Post Office and paid a $300 legal fee! I am going to report it.
