Ricky Jackson is back! Called me today telling me he was from the Australian Finance Ministry and that I had been overcharged by my bank to the tune of $7268. Same story as previous posts about reference numbers etc and to call his manager on the (02) 8006 7220 number to get my cheque released. I annoyed him by repeatedly asking his name and then insisted on calling him Reggie. He said he was calling from Sydney, but when the call connected to my landline number the connections took so long and was so obviously offshore that I was instantly suspicious. I do hope that no one is falling for this unsophisticated BS regardless of how much they know about you.

Call today with same Australian Federal Government telling me I am entitled to $7000 cheque for overcharging on my Credit Card over many years. Had to cal the (02) 8006 7220 to confirm details. They had my full address and name so someone has been onselling these details - query Telstra or some such organisation. You just know someone is going to get sucked in with this one because of how much information they have.

Got the same call today. The manager is to give me a Cheque reference number so that when I receive the cheque, within 48 hours, I will be able to cash it. All seems unlikely and as others have said, Dodgy!! I wonder if the number somehow links to a high charge extension and you find that your telephone account gets charged an exorbitant amount.

Got a call from Australian Federal Recovery centre, saying I needed to call (02) 8006 7220 with a reference number, to claim a 7268 AU$ check.
So called back, they say their office is located on 123 pitt st, sydney, and also on 477 pitt street. And they will call me back in 15 minutes... They first of all had only half of my address (missing apartment number), and half of my name, so they won't get to far with the data.
Lets see if they call back and what they want.

They are still at it today but with Indian accents now. They even phoned me back to encourage me to call the phone number. My alarm bells sounded instantly!!! So dodgy.

Caller,[offshore asian call centre?] Rang me to say he was calling from Aust.Fed.Govt with news that I would receive $7000 for being overcharged bank fees, etc, and amount would be deposited with Commonwealth Bank as soon as I had rang another number,80067230,and gave ref number H13 to the Fed Govt Finance dept! I didn't not comply and terminated the call.So beware, they are at it again, they sound quite genuine but are just con men.
