SCAMMERS - Saying that they (I have had over 10 calls this week alone) are from the Telstra Technical Department and there is a very bad problem with the internet and it would be disconnected for 3 months starting tomorrow, if I did not follow their instructions and go to a certain webpage. When I told them I was over being harassed several times a day by calls from the same number, I was abused

Phoned me twice in one day (the first call was missed but registered on my new NBN phone handset). Someone with a strong Indian accent, but claiming to be called "Alan", told me that he was calling from Telstra Bigpond and that he was very sorry to tell me but my home internet connection was being suspended for the next 25 days. Didn't give them a chance to explain why but told them that was a lie, that he was a hoax caller and calling me illegally. Think they hung up before I'd finished speaking. Telstra doesn't phone its customers - it contacts them by mail or email - and certainly doesn't suspend someone's internet connection without prior notification as to when and why.
