Same thing today. Didn't get the number but a woman with an Indian accent told me she was ringing on behalf of 'the Westpac' and 'the Australian Government' and was trying to return 'overcharge fees'. When I asked her for some verification that she was ringing on behalf of Westpac she told me my address. I then asked if there was anyone at the Westpac office I could speak to to confirm this (having got none of the usual mail notification) she replied that this 'money return' has been 'all over the media'. I told her I'd seen no such thing and she promptly hung up.

Very poor form

And he had the nerve to apolige  when their ripping off people left right and centre.  This is just heartless and their is no justification  for this behavior . Money can be the root of all evil  and i hope they read this and have same  shame for these families they have ripped off . I pray to God for them to change their ways .  AMEN

Same call. They said I was owed $4851.  When Richerd Lee was called he didn't like being confronted and said, "I'm your father.  I'm your father."  Nuts?  On drugs?  Scammer. How do we report?

Re: "(02) 8006 1797" scam out of a NSW Australia number.Hi Tegan,An elderly friend of mine in Victoria received the same call to say that she was owed close to $5,000 from Westpac in overcharged fees and she could either claim it as a deposit directly into her account or by cheque. My friend is very on-the-ball and recognised the danger and said just send it as a cheque. Without drawing breath the scammer said to her that she needed to organise a money order at the post office and send it to this guy so that he could the tax due on the cheque before sending it.Westpac have been notified and they said they have had several calls about this scam. But if anyone can ID this scammers number "(02) 8006 1797" I'd like know so that I can take it further.
