I just received a call from Technical Support - Windows Operating Systems an Indian fellow that swore he was in Sydney at 21 St Georges even though the phone had a delay in conversation. Again he told me that my computor was at risk due the firewall being down through a Trojan virus. When I questioned how he was able to contact me on this number he became defensive and said if I didn't want his help it was going to be at my expense. He eventually gave me his phone number 02 800 61200 but when I tried to call it didn't go through. He tried to tell me that the call centre was very busy. I refused to follow his instructions and insisted he send me an email to my work address so I can confirm his story. Lucky I did.

Had a call tonight and my husband got him to call back - which he did within 20mins. Same story, his name was Adam from Software support for PC at 21 George Street Central Sydney. Was asking me to go to www.teamviewer.com onto a live stream or something and I said I wouldnt. He started getting angry at me because I said I didnt want to do what he was asking so he told me to hang up if I didnt want his help. I did...

Yeah, just got the same thing, rang back when I hung up on him, told me I was lying to him about being a Computer Technician (I am a fully qualified Audio Visual Technician and I build Computers to earn a part-time income) and then threatened that the computer was in danger of having a meltdown. Tried to tell me that there were several problems with the computer - seeings I only built this computer and installed a few months ago, I know what is and isn't wrong with it. Got my back up and eventually got a company name, number and address which funnily enough only led me to this little forum. Thought I'd share the new number they're using:
Guys, don't fall for this stuff, they will just use the remote access to download all your files and sensitive information, they can get passwords and everything through this method if they are clever enough - which they may or may not be but better to be safe than sorry.
I hate to say this because I am not racially motivated, but next time you hear an Indian accent just hang up - the ones who are cold calling you are more often than not, scammers.
Don't trust anyone for that matter, heck I even question people who have an Australian accent because they are getting very sneaky these days.
A couple of days ago I had another Indian bloke telling me he was calling from the Bank of Melbourne... hmmmm, is that the same bank that hasn't existed for over 2-3 years????
Very interesting, wanted account verification before he would even explain to me what the call was about, lucky I was here, otherwise my mum might have fallen victim to it. When I asked for further details, he hung up.
We have caller ID on our phone, the number that appeared was a Sydney number, when I called the police and said I have a number for them, he just said he'd take it but there wasn't much they could do as it was a falsely generated number. So please people, be careful, ask them for their details first before giving any of yours, it is your right to keep your information private.
If it is a legitimate company, the caller will provide you with the full company details, I'd even get an ABN or ACN if you're not too sure then check www.abr.gov.au for the company's information. The caller will also give you their name, their ID, company name and address and what the call is in regards to without you having to give them one single bit of information. I hadn't registered for the Do Not Call register, but I said to him do you realise I'm on the 'Do Not Call' register, he replied, yes ma'am, I am aware of that but I am not selling anything. Then proceeded to tell me I was a liar because if I really was a technician I would know that there are heaps of problems with the computer.
Better to be safe than sorry and stand up for yourself to these people, don't let yourself be bullied by anyone!
I think the guy gave it away when he started calling me a liar. Lucky he wasn't standing face to face, he probably wouldn't have the balls to say something like that to my face anyway! I don't care who you are, whether you are white, black or any other colour, you don't call someone a liar without backing it up.
I live for the day these people call me now, bring it on b***hes.
P.S. I know this is long enough now, but just wanted to say, please keep posting any new numbers or any information you have as this will help people searching for info on this bogus company and prevent more and more from falling victim to their cowardly crimes.

I just had a call from an Indian guy who said his name was Shawn - he did have my name, and said I had problems with my computer that were being sent out into the Internet. Well I do have problems with my computer, and I have a son named Sean, but that is as close as he got to my computer! He was clearly guessing about what he could tell me about my computer but he was wayyyyy off the mark. He said he was from Software Support for PC and gave me a phone number (3153208050) he said was based in New York. I'm in Canada - on the East Coast. I let him ramble for a little time, got the phone number and the name of his "business", said thank you and hung up while he was still talking.

I'm Rascal's son and I have worked in Tech support for over 10 years.
I've heard of various scams like this, most recently one of my best mates got 3 very persistent calls from and Indian voiced man with an Aussie name. He was saying that my friends computer had a virus on it and they wanted him to to allow them to have remote access to fix this.
NEVER let this happen.
A) The only way they would know anything about your computer is if they had some kind of spyware on it. which is illegal.
B) They will often seem to know details about your computer - They're guessing - kinda like cold reading. but using the most common setup and programs that non-tech people use.
C) Best way to trip them up is to ask them for more details about the problem, or how they know. they will avoid this question as hard as they can.
D) Best course of Action is to Thank them for informing you of the problem and that you will have your own tech have a look at it.
In this case, just to be sure my friend scanned his pc with all the tools I provided for him and then called me to have a look just in case. There was absolutely nothing wrong at all with his computer.
