Same call as the others. An Asian guy with heavy accent wanting to give me reclaim on overcharges from my bank. I asked him to nominate my bank as he said the investigation showed we were owed $3,500.He couldn't even name the bank we were with.I asked for his name, agency & number. All he gave me was thee Agency Australian Government Re-Claim (02) 8006 0849.He hung up as soon as I said that we don't have charges on our account.

Hi Nita,
I'm so glad your phone battery died. I think it was a God send. Thank goodness you didn't send any money across to them - con artists!
Very sad that these people actually make this their job, to seek out and exploit people.
I'm glad you were smart enough to research and find out that it was a scam.

It seems they're having a blitz on us unsuspecting Aussies at the moment. I received a call this Saturday morning from a woman with thick Indian accent from "Money Saving Experts" working for (in her words) "Fair Trading Dept. of Aust. Govt." informing me that I would receive money from my bank (hah!) for over charges on bank fees. She gave me a Batch ID number, a finance manager's name, reclaim amount of $5147 and phone number (02) 8006 0850 (slight change). I am suppose to ring the number within 5 minutes and speak with this man to get money back. I'll be sending a report to Office of Fair Trading instead. There is a report on their website regarding this type of activity. God these people have a hide. Get a real job instead of trying to dupe others out of their hard earned savings.

I received a call this morning from a person with an Indian accent stating that she was from the Australian Council Bank. She said that her name was Michelle and that I would receive $3629.00 of Government costs that we supposedly overpaid. She told me to go to the Post Office and fill out a Western Union form to send $150 to a man named RAJESH KUMAR in India through a personal transaction to receive the $3629.00 and that the $150 would be paid back. When I asked why is it sent to India, she said that the Australian Government transferred the job to India because of cheap labour. When I kept asking more questions, she passed the phone to another lady who tried to explain that we were eligible to receive the money and that she would help fill the form. I went to the Post Office to get the form, then she called saying that the money was in the Post Office ready to pick up and all we had to do was to fill out the form and send $150 to them, to get a receipt number to give to her so that we will receive a confirmation number to give to the Post Office to receive the $3629.00. She kept pressuring me to send the money asap. While she was helping me fill out the form, my phone battery died. I decided I would go back home to call them using the home phone, thinking it was all a scam or hoax, I decided to research if this was real & thank God i found this website. I hope everyone will learn that there is no such thing as The Australian Council Bank paying money as reclaimed money.
