I just had a call and they were obviously fishing for information. They asked if I'd had a car accident in the last two years and then told me it was definitely me and I'd injured someone. When I reiterated that I had not been involved in an accident ever, the caller hung up on me.

I hope the scammer enjoyed chatting with "Its Lenny" as much as I did diverting him. Scammers hate being scammed. :-)

Rang me yesterday on a private number with a distinct cultured Indian accent. I hung up without saying anything. Same voice 20 hours later and it's (02) 8006 0050 with the "Accident claims department" message highlighted here.

These people should be arrested and thrown in prison.

I doubt they have an address in Australia. You can bet that are set up so they are not actually paying PSTN for their calls and instead using a service like Sykpe or VOIP. Actually I suspect VOIP and given they have an Australian virtual number, the Australian company providing them with the service and Australian number should be identified and outed....

Just got a call from this number (02) 8006 0050. Indian Accent said he was calling from the Accident Claims Dept. and something about an accident in the last two years. What a scam !! I said I think you have the wrong number and promptly hung up. Wish they could be reported and prevented from making these calls, it concerns me if they call someone that is fooled by this, or very elderly etc... Shouldn't be allowed to happen.

We are a real estate agency. We have received the same call from this number regarding an insurance or accident claim. It is a scam of some sort. We will find out how to block this number form our phone system

Just had a call from this number (02) 8006 0050) claiming he was with a legal firm . The caller said that I needed to confirm details for an accident claim that was made from my number. I asked him what accident and who was the other person involved. He said the claim I made for an accident in the last two years. I asked him if he could give me my full name and address and he couldn't tell me. Then I proceeded to ask what time and date was this said accident was and he still could not tell me. I told him to bugger off and that the number he was calling from will be reported. Total waste of time answering the call/ Don't have time for scammers. :)

I've got this call many times. Indian accent claiming to be from "Australian Car Accident Department " The scam call is annoying, but the question is why the whole country don't or can't stop / block that caller when we all know his criminal intention?

Got the same call as everyone else, Indian sounding voice claiming to be from "accident claims department, I got your number from a claim, has anyone in your house been in a car accident in the last week". I hung up & added them to my phone's call block list.

A guy with an Indian accident asking if someone at my address had been involved in an accident in the last 2 years. I told him that I wasn't aware of any asked for what details or information he had about the accident. He asked me to confirm my name which included my middle initial and said that he was from the Motor Accident Commission, and repeated that someone from our address had been involved in a motor vehicle accident in the past two years. I pressed him for any further info (which he wasn't able to supply) before telling him that I didn't believe a word of it. Pretty feeble attempt at scamming. Sad that we have to share such a beautiful world with people like this.
