Got a phone call from a "Vidan Smith" at that number tonight at about 1920. asked my wife to type a series of numbers starting with "r" in the search feature of Windows. He then said we had over 3000 error messages which must obviously viruses.

He then asked her to type in www.support.me and type in a user code. My wife refused.

He said his company URL was www.gitt.com.au, which seemed to be some sort of IT training college who hadnt updated their website since January 2005 and had a MOBILE number as a contact.

An idiot called Jack Morris who claims my computer was infected with viruses wanted between $200 to $500 to fix it.............i told him to f@^& off

If it's like the ones which are hitting the UK they will also install spyware/malware on the machine.

Is this a legitimate company - Global IT Protection at Unit 2. Level 3 Chifley Park Drive Sydney?

They want to access your computer to show that its full of viruses - then sell you expesive software to remove it.They transfer you to a "Microsoft technician" in Sydney who provides you with the number 02 - 8005 7751.Total scam
