I got the same kind of caller, I asked for their name and number and they gave me (02) 8005 6863. I didn't give them any details. Once I started to question them, they hung up on me!

Somebody called my home, a guy with Indian accent who said his name is 'Andrew', calling from 'Hewks Tech Live' or something like that.

He claimed to call from Microsoft Customer Help Line, calling because my computer was releasing errors etc. I found it really strange and asked for his name and number before giving him any information about myself.

Thanks to this website I have confirmed what I suspected... so here I post this to try to help other people avoid being scammed.

Microsoft, as they say in their website, will never call you and ask you for personal information so before saying anything about yourself or giving anyone access to your computer make sure you know who you are talking to!

I got one of these calls too............ almost fell for it......... please beware!!! They threatened us with the police and being arrested if we did not comply.

Just had a call from an Indian guy claiming to be calling from Microsoft technical support regarding my computer sending them lots of error messages. He insisted that i turn my computer on so he could show me the malware that i had picked up and that as a valued customer of Microsoft i was entitled to their support. I called him out on it, telling him i didn't believe a word of it and picking him on a few points which he stumbled over before hanging up.

I got a similar call mentioning microsoft ,spent ages telling me it would not cost me anything.
Checked my computer said it would cost £189.00 for lifetime guarantee or computer would freeze up etc. I went ahead BUT next day It felt wrong his Tel No was02532362020 Indian Accent too.
Luckily my bank cancelled payment just in time
