Max from Telstra is still around today. He said he worked from Miller Street, Sydney and told me that he worked for an additional company. His Indian accent was so strong that I could hardly understand him. Of course it was about someting that I had downloaded on a lap top or computer i. The last few days. I said that I had definitely heard of them and it was not good. He hung up. Another time this happened with alleged Telstra after I told them they were scammers I received several calls, at least 6, that hung up before I got there. Obviously to annoy me.

Just got the same call but from Max Williams who was originally in Miller St, (can't answer which suburb), but after 10 mins, transferred me to his 'senior floor supervisor' who strangely enough was in Exhibition St Melbourne, (at least he knew which city), and had a very distinctive familiar voice but assured me his name was Brad Williams, no relation. While having this conversation I was reading this page and I hate to disappoint you all, but every one of the names you listed, were imposters. 'brad' assured me that none them worked for Telstra and he said I can trust him! After all he's calling to help me, but I must go to my computer and press the windows button and the letter 'r' and this will prove that he is legit. After about half an hour I finally confessed that I didn't trust him, or the other three voices, one of which, I informed him was a women which he assured me he had misheard the name, I was treated to a tirade of language and innuendo, not to mention explicit sexual acts that max insisted he would perform on the women of my life, that would make a truck driver blush, (and I know, I am a truck driver). The line went silent after I assured him that I had feelings and I was very hurt by the names he called me. So far, about half an hour after the call, the phone is still silent, meaning his phone is probably unusable, (yeh, I know, so is mine, but at least I won't get annoyed by any more scam calls). Maybe Telstra took his call phone off him for swearing, maybe, just maybe, he can't use his phone until he hangs up, at which time the number can be traced.

I've gotten this call at least a dozen times over past several weeks - always around dinner time. I now treat it as a bit of sport, acting appropriately concerned and pretending to follow instructions until I finally declare I've opened the net with my iPad and I'm ready for their help. This is usually greeted with a few seconds of silence. "No computer?" they finally ask, and when I say "no, just iPad" they hang up. Though the guy last night did apologise for bothering me :)

Was also called by someone claiming to be from Telstra, they said my internet connection would fail within a day, or perhaps within 20 minutes, as a result of corrupt files being downloaded, so I needed to turn my computer on and do what they say. I said my computer had anti-virus software, but they said this was not a virus and it would never be found by that software. When I asked their address they said 1 Epping Road, North Ryde, which is believable, as that is a Microsoft business centre and there is a Telstra business centre in that suburb. They wanted me to give them my no., but when I asked for their's eventually they gave it, (02) 8005 1162. When I called it had the busy signal, with no opportunity to leave a msg or confirmation it was Telstra. Share with your family and friends.

Had them call at 9pm last night & 7pm today, Saying that they're from "Telstra Technical Support" & that there's an issue with our Bigpond Account. I don't have Bigpond or Telstra accounts. I asked for her employee No & the No she gave me is the one I used to get to this page, I said that's not her employee No & that I wanted to talk to her Supervisor. I got his name as Edward, But when I asked him for his employee No, He got a bit thrown & said talk to the rep again & then hung up. I rang Telstra Tech Support myself to verify the call & they now have a record of the incident & the No the caller gave me.

Just had this scam call today. Said he was from Telstra, going to disconnect us, etc etc. Said his name was Taul or similar after spelling it out (yeah, still hard to understand). Gave me this number to ring him back. As if I'm going to.

This company called my home phone and told me they were from TELSTRA and that I had downloaded some virus which was going to corrupt my internet blah blah blah... when I said I was with OPTUS they gave me some bull sh*t story about being the same company... I then told them I to get stuffed as it sounded like a scam.. They insisted so I asked for their contact details and that I would call them back. they provided (02) 8005 1162 as the contact number and gave me a "job number" I checked this number and of course many other people seem to be victims of an attempted scam. I tried to call them back to give them a blast and a serious piece of my mind.. but of course the number has been disconnected.. SCAM!!!! THIS IS A SCAM. DO NOT DO ANYTHING THESE PEOPLE ASK YOU TO DO................ SCAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM..... go to www.scamwatch.gov.au/ to see a list of scams running at this time.

I had the same thing. Like everyone else, I was suspicious why they were calling so late. I asked where their office was located and they said Miller Rd North Sydney (1. it's Miller St; 2. there is no call centre in North Sydney), I then said what time it is there? He replied 8pm. It was 9pm. Great trick with daylight savings!

I had the same. They said they were Telstra and if I don't comply, I will lose all my data, and will have no internet and probably will need a new computer. They were convincing but not enough. I am glad I did not do what they wanted. Definitely bad guys.

They called me saying that my computer had a major virus causing the Telstra network to be vulnerable. They asked me to take some steps to rectify or face permanent internet disconnection within 24 hours. I refused and called Telstra to verify and they said that they did not make the call. DON'T FALL FOR THIS SCAM!

Just received call advising they were calling from telstra. Said there was a problem with server and my computer was being accessed. If I was not savvy to scams I may have believed them. I told them I was too busy and they insisted on calling back in an hour. So now waiting for another call. LOL
