This is a robot dialing machine that the caller uses to find the first person who picks up the phone. They are demanding your information about job bank etc. Don't answer. They call mobiles and home landlines and offices on a rota.

They get your numbers from the "Do not call register" - That is in fact one of the biggest scams of all.

Indian/Asian voice called mobile. Knew my name. Wanted to speak with homeowner. Selling solar panels to claim 40% rebate. No upfront cost. It is a scam because caller always says 'you know' or 'OK' at end of sentence. Moment I refused offer, caller disconnected without so much as a good bye or thank you for your time.

Caller: Solar panel people A man with a tick accent claiming to sell solar panels. When I said I wasnt interested he continued to read from his script until I spoke over him and demanded to be taken off their list. He then wished me a good day and hung up. I’m sure I’ll hear from him again.

Knew the name and address of someone who lives in the house. That person is not the listed owner of the phone number (which is unlisted and on the Do Not Call register). When I asked what it was about, the fellow (who had an Indian accent) said that there was a new solar rebate and they had someone in the area who could come and visit us tomorrow. Said he was from Solarworld Power. I asked if there was a number I could call him back if needed and he said no but he could call me again. I hung up. There actually is a business with this name, and they have a 1300 number. I called them to alert them of this possible scam since the number shown on my calling number display doesn't appear on their website. I gave them the number, the fellow who answered (Australian accent) said he didn't actually work for Solarworld but just took their calls. He asked if I was looking for a solar installation (not unexpected, that's his job!) and I wasn't, so he said, "no worries, don't worry about it!" (in a friendly way) so we ended the call. So I'm still under the impression that the original call was either a scam or a nuisance and don't know whether it is actually endorsed by the business or not.
