Same scam - I am really starting. to get annoyed. I keep getting calls from (02) 8006 0050, (02) 8091 4668, and (02) 8000 6457. All have the same insurance line or claim they are from the Australian Claims Dept. Interestingly they all have Indian/South African accents - we have a private number and it is on the do not call register and yet they still keep calling. They are impervious to being hung up on, or asked not to call again. Is it possible to actually block all calls from 02 8......?

As already noted - this is a SCAM.

A guy called Harry phoned from (02) 8006 0050 and said he was from COMMON LAW CLAIMS and was asking for details of a current car accident that 'me or my husband was in'...

He provided me with a return number to call - (02) 8005 0034 to call him back with car/Rego details etc As my husband is a policeman - I did ask him to contact him at his police station : funnily enough - he hung up!!!

So not having been in any accidents (touch wood) - he was definitely fishing for info. DO NOT PROVIDE ANY PERSONAL INFO. he was asking more questions and could certainly trick the unsuspecting - be aware please!!!

Report all phone calls to police if they get enough phopne calls they may do something to stop this scam

Someone named Mathew called my elderly mother stating that I had been in an accident. She freaked out because she thought I was injured in hospital somewhere. Then he told her that the accident had happened in the last 12 months but he had no specifics. He said he was from a law firm and that they wanted to help me make a claim. Wanted my mother to give him my phone number, which she didn't. This is some sort of scam. Luckily I haven't been involved in any accidents.
