2 calls in 30 mins and as soon as it goes to the answering machine they hang up. same every time. report it and then they ring back on another number so report it again and on it goes every night

You cannot report a research company if you are on the DNC register, it's only for sales calls.

No voice/content calls from this lot are most likely 'Listeners'. You 'answer', these Turkeys rub what's heard at your end up against their software - Job Done. Likely candidate survey would be TV/Radio owners looking to who is listening to what and when. Note that the only human involvement in the actual call is yours, friends. Cheap and nasty surveying right down the line:-) The www.reachtel.com site is Very Informative. Right there you have the bottom of the business ethics - writ large for all to see, as a brag no less:-)

If on Samsung S5 or similar: 1. in the call log, place your finger lightly on the unwanted call entry and hold a second until a tick appears beside it; 2. tap on the three menu dots at top right; 3. tap on 'Add to Auto reject list'. :)
