Said they were calling from Mastercard and said that someone had used my card. When I asked what bank they were from they said they were not going to tell me, and that I was overreacting, and then started abusing me. Scam. Hang up straight away

Caller said that they were from the Australian NBN and that they had detected our internet speed to be slow from time to time. They me to confirm that this was the case. I've seen this type of scam before - they ask you to allow access to your computer and then they upload malware/spyware/ransomware. They then say that our internet speed is slow due to an infection and that they can remove it for a fee. If you decline, they activate the software, forcing you to pay them or you have to reset your PC, losing everything. That's a good outcome.

Claimed to be Amazon. Lots of voices in background like a call centre. Indian accent. Wanted me to check my internet connection because he said my home internet had been hacked. I said that was weird because Amazon isn’t my ISP and doesn’t fix internet connection problems. Then he explained someone had ordered an iPhone 11 using my Amazon account through my internet connection (seriously, how dumb do these people think we are). I told him that’s fine, I’ll dispute the charge and call Amazon when it happens. He started telling me that’s not how it worked. I said that it’s precisely how it works. But he started raising his voice and saying “no, I’ll tell you what’s going to happen. It will come out of your bank account.” I told him he won’t tell me how it’s going to happen when he clearly doesn’t have a clue. So he hung up. Seriously, made my day. These people are idiots and sometimes a lot of fun to play with. I’m not blocking the number as I hope they call again.

Claimed that come from NBN, and my IP address was compromised. Knew my name and mobile phone number. But my NBN isn't even under my name, and my mobile phone number isn't related to my NBN at all. Asked me to turn my computer on and switch my phone speaker on then follow her instruction. I said I don't trust her, then she threaten to be going to disconnect my NBN...I said go for it...
