This is really frustrating. I called a Sydney business (from a Perth landline) around lunch-time WST and the fellow I spoke to said he'd have a look in his warehouse for the item I was asking about and he'd call me back if they had it. After 20 minutes and no callback, I assumed he didn't have it. But then about 10 min later the phone rang and caller ID showed it was a NSW (02) number. I don't get many calls so I wasn't particularly paying much attention to the actual numbers. This number (02) 6581 1117 was showing on the Caller ID so I answered it, expecting it to be the fellow in Sydney.

But as soon as I said hello, it made some weird noises and went silent. Then I looked up the number on this site and it said it had a previous record to a G. Packer in Port Macquarie!! And gave the address which I looked up on Google Maps and showed a small brick house in a cul-de-sac - (photo dated 2015).

So what's going on?? Seems like just too much of a co-incidence that I get a dud call within 25 minutes of placing a call. I don't know much about what goes on these days but there's a lot of dodgy sh** going around with phone numbers. I can only assume that this particular number has been hijacked by scammers or other dodgy "people" and used for whatever nefarious purposes they need it for.

Usually I don't answer calls these days unless I know who's calling, but I made a mistake this time as the chance of an 02 number coming up in Perth while I was waiting for a callback was just too low.
