Scam. Pretending to be from ATO.

Caller: Scam ATO call originating from Canberra.

Computer generated voice call to my mobile addressing me as "Citizen" informed me I was guilty of a tax violation. I replied "Go f---k yourself" and hung up. This call was clearly NOT from the Australian Tax Office. It is not the way way they do business. Contact would be made via snail mail or email with my Tax File Number, name and address and full details of the issue defined with contact details for disputation etc.

Just received a phone call from (02) 6216 1616/
Didn't answer as I didnt know the number, voice mail left, it was a 1990's dragon speech advising I have been reported for income tax fraud and would has jail time.

I called back number (02) 6216 1616 rang once then gets disconnected automatically.

Caller: Tax Debt Scammer

A text-to-speech synthesised voice that said: "Tax violation been reported under your name to our ATO informant program. This is the final reminder to connect with ATO official to resolve tax debts and to avoid additional penalties and subsequent arrest. To connect immediately press 1" - followed by about 10 seconds of silence before the message ends.
