My wife received a call today suggest ATO from Canberra regards to Tax violation.
Checked with site and read all about.

SCAM claiming money is owed to ATO. ATO confirmed it is not legitimate and have passed on details to law enforcement.

Thanks Mary, I have been receiving it for past few days, I have blocked this number now.. Are they idiots, they will be in big trouble trying to dupe people in name of ATO.

number (02) 6216 1113 is the same! Scammers using ATO as a reason to call you same as number (02) 6216 1111 which has been reported before. The male machine voice asked you to press on 1 to connect but when you do so the phone cut off. I tried to search those 2 numbers and turned out that is scammers

I too received call from (02) 6216 1111 and automated message saying i owed tax and that I was being threatened with arrest just hung up.. it showed as a canberra number on my phone.

I got a call from this number yesterday. I accidentally called them back because I was genuinely curious. SCAM! I've now recieved extra data usage on my phone when I've actually been connected to WIFI.

Another electronic male voice claiming to be from the ATO, same as others press 1......
Just hung up.

This is the second one in a week, the call before was an Indonesian number:
+62 756 410328 again claiming to be from the ATO.

This number has called repeatedly claiming to be the ATO and threatening arrest.

tried calling twice, first call i missed, 2nd call i answered but lucky for me my reception is bad and the connection cut off. Im sure my tax agent would let me know if me or my company had any tax bills. Plus ATO will do a payment arrangement with you before they go and arrest you, you'd have so much written warning first.
