I have received this same message 3 times in the past week, claiming to be a "final warning" from tax crimes investigation branch on behalf of the commonwealth department of public prosecutions. Do not return the call, just block it

Got the same rubbish message "You missed a call from (02) 6188 6075, who said "Have received an affidavit against your name. Where you are been listed as a primary suspect for the case been filed against your name and your house is under surveillance. So do not disregard this message."

Hi guys. So I received the same call from these undesirables today. Already knew the outcome of this call as soon as I heard the name. Cos 1: ATO will never call from an indentifiable number. 2 he had a very strong non-Australian accent. I will not point out the accent but it generally accepted as the stereotypical one you'd hear on the phone in regards to telemarketing. So I got threatened and sworn at. I was allgoods. Then I called back on a private number offering to pay under the guise of JOHN GILBERT. I purposefully gave fake ID and a fake owing amount. The consultant then said yes that's correct. I laughed in my head and said I'd like to pay today via debit card and yes fake of course. He then said why don't you swipe that in your mothers pu**y - I laughed hysterically and yelled out a few names and he fired back saying Chopper on its way bastard to arrest you.
That's my story 😂

I received the same message as Angela - just ignore it. I did not even hear the phone ring - only the alert that I had a message...

Didn't answer and this is the message they left: Reason of this. Hi. I'm calling you from the Commonwealth Directors of Public Prosecutions Headquarters in Canberra. Representing the Australian Taxation Office. The reason of this call is to make you aware that we have received an affidavit against your name. Where you been listed as a primary suspect for the case been filed against your name and your house is under surveillance. So do not disregard this message and call us back ASAP on (02) 6169 1018.

I received a call from "Raymond Martinas employee number 23894" today saying that I owed the ATO $788. He started to read an affidavit with details until I interrupted and said I did not think he was from the ATO. He hang up immediately.

Yup, you may've guessed from the name. Called claiming they were from Westpac Bank. The issue here is, if it was them, they would request you to call their 13 number (yes I have had the "genuine article" a few times :(), on top of this, Westpac also wait until the END of your 'greeting' before saying anything. They do NOT use an automated 'system' nor do they have "others" in the background. They also SPEAK ENGLISH - without the strong 'crummy' accent! Be reporting them to Westpac fraud/scam department later this week with phone number used.. Love call diversion :D.

It is easy to determine if they are real ATO or just scammers. I have had several of these calls, however I hang up on them and then call the ATO myself (I look it up in my White Pages, so I know who I am calling) A few quick questions to confirm who I am and they will let you know if they have been trying to call you.

Today my husband also received a call from these low life scum. Tax Crime Investigators for the ATO. Tax fraud occurred between 2009 - 2013. If not paid within the hour, our belongings would be confiscated in lieu of payment. This is a scam. And not a good one either. If we could afford to pay the fine, we would have paid the taxes, just saying. Besides, when did the Tax office receive back payments or payments from Woolworths as the man suggested to my husband. These scabs are the worst and need to be stopped straight away.

Their was a pre recorded message left on my voicemail, about the ATO - tax crime investigations. i rang back, there was an ethnic man on the end, with some other men talking loudly on similar calls i assume He told me i owed $1990.00 between the years of 2009-2013 when i lived at my old house. like they had the address of my old residence
but i also probably get junk mail to that house, and i did lose my licence once when i lived there. if they stole mail they could have gotten all the info they needed at that point.
but i really hope this isnt real and it is a scam because i really hope im not in trouble with ato haha

Another threatening scam , getting quite a few of these now from the "tax office" in robot automated voices, American or Australian accents. Number blocked but I hope the Federal Police get onto this as I'm sure there are elderly or vulnerable people out there who fall for these scams.

Recieved a call, didnt answer as it was unknown number, left a message stating they were from the commonwealth director of public prosecution, rang back off a private number and they then further said I had commited a crime and that the cops would be coming for me. Laughed and hung up. Definitley a scam, really hope people don't fall for it.

Number comes up without an area code, no 02 or 03 just the 8 digits. Had some fun with these thieving scum, gave them made up credit card numbers, pretended to be at post office as they want you to transfer money on western union. Told another I had a pocket full of cash to fix the problem, I'd meet him in person to give him the cash, no questions asked. "Officer James Winston" told me not to call them again. Haha They obviously have no idea about the Australian legal or tax systems. Told me i was going to be arrested in 2 hours hahahaha. Thieving lowlife grubs. Waste their time, play them along. Offer them cash. If they want to meet, call the cops and meet them! Dont think they'll call me again.

Just received a call from an man with an Indian accent saying he was from the Federal Department of Taxation. He said I owed $2972 and had committed a tax crime. Would sue me for $45000 and there would be an officer coming to my house tomorrow. I was so frightened I couldn't stop shaking. Luckily my daughter was here and googled this number, realising this was a hoax.
