Says they're from some super long company name that you can't even understand because of their accent - saying they're calling to confirm a competition that I've entered. I haven't.

Looks like a scam - Indian Lady said I'd entered an online contest to win $1/4 million and I just needed to complete a "survey".

When asked, the lady gave me a fake internet website I "apparently" used to enter this "competition". Quickly hung up when I started asking questions.

This is definitely a telemarketer! I answered and they were wanting to confirm that I entered a competition (which I didn't enter) I said "no I didn't enter that competition & I'm fine thank you" and hung up immediately. Also had the same call from a different number, (02) 8379 2039

received a call from this number to work mobile. obviously a call centre as could hear multiple voices in the background.
female caller said that they were wanting to speak to ??? 'B Howarth'.
had calls in the past, from different numbers wanting to speak to the same person.
I've been working for the company for 8+ years & the number was used by my predecessor - definitely no-one by that name (to my knowledge) has worked for the company.

I started applying for Aldi secret shopper position and after 2 pages of ticking boxes for different products, travel or chance to win money I killed it. First call I had was in regard to changing utility company, I said I had started an application for a secret shopper and had opted out of everything I had seen, utilities wasn't part of what I'd seen. I was also moving shortly so no point in changing provider now. He hung up.. since then I have had a few calls from unusual numbers this being one of them.

Told them it was a terrible line (it was), and would they ring me back on my landline. Gave them the number, hung up and waited. Never rang back. Must have heaps of money to ring from India all the time.

I answered the call and all I could hear was a recorded message saying a company name which I didn't hear and then telling me to call a number to remove my number from their call list. Then repeated the information minus the company name. The message had an insistent tone to it especially when repeating the number it kept telling me to ring.
Really weird.
