Received call from this number, greeted with background noise but no voice - when this occurs do not say "hello" again or "Who is this?" or "Insert Name speaking!" as they can record your voice and responses. My advice; if you don't know the number - don't answer! Alternatively if you want to answer that's fine, but just say "Hello" once, if no response hang up - come here and log a comment and then block them on your phone. It pays to be paranoid!

I think mine was because of a JetStar Ad on Face book. Added to contacts and blocked.

Multiple calls to me too - but I haven't filled in any forms to win anything. Predators. And they have more than one number going.

Caller: Thieving scammers uber/brands of choice/etc.. I got never ending scam sms and emails after allowing uber to sms me again. One of sms claimed I've won an iPhone, but link went to a survey that claimed they need to verify my ID via my credit card. They ended up stealing money from my credit card under different names and link took me to an account under some immigrant guy's name that was probably linked to many male based subscriptions. Such malicious thieving, cowardly usurping abominations must be destroyed because they are intent on plundering, ruining and destroying the countries and lives of those they've covetted.

Caller: Scammer Canberra number shows up but 100% from overseas.I asked if she was in Canberra and she said the company was but they have offices in South Africa.I said how come you don’t have a South African accent? You sound like you are calling from the Philippines. She was so silly she said ‘thank you’..haha. I said how do you get my details as they do know your first name.I apparently had entered a comp to win a Dyson.I said I already have one so why would I enter for another one.She said I could win a Range Rover but kept stumbling as I was onto her.I let her keep going for a while but got bored as her English was appalling so that made it hard to hard to play along...haha.So I hang up.

Can't you ring them back & not hang up for a while , therefore preventing them from ringing out again until you hang up? Or has this been changed

Caller: (02) 6181 1511 I got a call telling me that after entered an online competition I had the chance to win a luxury...I don't know what, I hung up then. Firstly, I DO NOT enter online competitions, and if I did, I would use my proper phone number, not the number of a spare phone that never leaves the house. These people want my details and nothing else. I expect, had I continued with the call, I would have been asked for my bank details. I have now blocked this number, but will add it to my regular phone, just in case they manage to get that number. Even though it is on the do not call register, these scammers don't follow the rules.
