They hung up before I could answer - now I see why!

He Said he was Simon from Telstra offering 40%discount for next 6 months he would sned me an email with a code and I just needed to give that code to confirm they had the account holder - he then went on to ask if Trevor (my deceased husband) was the account holder or myself and my phone number ending 059 was the account I was getting the discount on and did I still have phone ending 017. I realised after he was raising his voice that he had very old info as my hubby has been gone several years.
Please BEWARE these are not genuine callers and I agree with another person earlier their use of the english language is poor to say the least.

Tried to call me twice but I missed the calls. Tried to call it back but after it ringing I got the call failed signal

Telstra 50% off scammer.Typical Indian voice would couldn’t articulate his script intro properly so that was an instant red flag.
Before he started the spiel ,mentioned it was a little suspect to call people after 730pm on a weekend in fact any time safety normal business hours so your a scammer.

I got a call saying I was premium Telstra customer for many years and I was eligible for a 40% discount on my bill for the next 6 months.

They sounded very positive and said I needed to confirm my ID by reading out a 6 digit code they were sending me. I actually got a txt from Telstra saying “ To complete your Telstra ID registration, enter the following one-time code: 700703.”

I realised this was a little sus, and started asking for more information about my account, like phone numbers, other services or email addresses. He said they could see them all details and would confirm once i gave them the code.

When I said I would call Telstra back myself can I have a reference for this call he started getting angry with me. I called him a dirty scammer and hung up.

Claimed to be Telstra offering 50% discount for the next 12 months, sent me a text and asked me to verify the code number. I refused and asked for some details about my account which they could not provide, they then got upset and told me I was "a piece sh*t" I suggested that the correct use of the english language would be to call me "A piece of sh*t" and they really need to lift their game if they want to be better at scamming... then they hung up. Worst part of it is they won't answer my calls when i call them back.. must have hit a nerve?
