Experienced a call today from a recored message stating that an affidavit had been received against my name and that my home was under surveillance. As long as my bathroom isn't being watch then I'm aight. Scamming knobs!

Just got the call. Total scam. Anyone who are running scams like this should be prosecuted.

One idiot called me Indian accent told me from Commonwealth execution something. I said, I missed called and called back. He asked my name then I said, you called me what about, he was angry and yelled me WHAT IS YOUR NAME! I become angry I said YOU CALLED ME, WHAT?? the he hang up. Fraud!!!!

Just received a call from this number said i was evading taxes!!! What???! When i said ill call ATO first and he said if i put the phone down AFP will take action and bring me to court! So dodgy! I insisted to confirm with ATO first and he hanged up on me. Hahaha.

it's a tax fraud number. I played a game with him " Edward" and he abused me! lol it was so funny.

Same as above/below - This woman's voice, possibly computerised, claimed that the "Legal Dept of the ATO" had my house under surveillance and that and affidavit had been received against my name. That I "must not ignore this call" and call them back immediately - I called the ATO on 1-800-008-540 and report it.

Its a big SCAM guys from overseas claiming to be the ATO. They are using local numbers to make the calls. I know its a pain but just ignore it

The first one was on our computer & I listened for a long period, always knowing they were lower than shark sh*t. When I told them to P off she called me a black C. Nice eh?

I got a call 08/03/17 early in the morning the that woke me up and pissed me off.
My number has not been active very long and is not known to many people.
One of the only places to have my number is that hotel - booked through booking.com (the hotel had all indian staff). Has anyone else given there nimber to this establishment and received this scam call?

Scam call using a text to speech engine (Ivona I believe), claiming legal proceedings etc. Total scam.

DONT CALL THEM BACK - Same message as others - really garbled on my voicemail but it is the second one of these legal department scams recently.

I just got the same call from (02) 6169 1099 as reported by others, claiming to be about vaccinations and saying my home is under surveillance - very threatening!!! - this scam needs to be investigated immediately by Telecommunications Ombudsman!!!

Had a call from this number - a recorded voice from the tax office. Hung up, called back and asked for credentials - was told f*ck you a**hole

Got a call from a computer generated voice claiming to be from Commonwealth Department of Public Prosecutions working for the ATO. It said "This call is to make you aware that we have received an affidavit against your name where you are been listed as a primary suspect for the case been filed against you and you have..." and that my home was under surveillance, and that I had to call back urgently.
I called back and an Indian male told me that they had filed charges against me for tax fraud and that the ATO had written to me 3 times about this.
I said I communicate with the ATO via MyGov and that I had received no such communication. They then hang up.
This is a scam.

This is definitely a fake caller -- a guy with thick indian accent said his name was "David Brown", when I questionned him on that he told me to "F*** OOF"

Received a call from this number today (a Yass number), just as Wil above states " claiming to be the "Legal Dept of the ATO" had my house under surveillance and that and affidavit had been received against my name. That I "must not ignore this call" and call them back immediately"!

I didn't take the call as I was busy and so it went straight to voicemail so I have a recording of the official sounding message.

I called the number back and got an Indian male on the end of the line and asked him to provide more info about the company he had called from as he used a different company name when I called, not the ATO. He advised that he didn't have to justify himself, so I hung up and called the ATO who were extremely helpful and confirmed it wasn't from them and that they don't ever all from this number and next time if in doubt to take the callers name and call a legit ATO number and get put back through to the person.

The ATO advised that these criminals are shocking people into handing over personal information and scamming them for money .... just glad it went to voice mail first as it is a distressing call to receive and I'm sure very easy to hand over personal information. If you do hand over personal information call the ATO or you bank or some other authority for guidance on what to do.
