Got the same call today. "Peter" representing ATO and CDPP. If one of these commonwealth agencies had an issue then I am pretty confident they would contact in writing. Also, the phone manner is very unlike what one would expect from a federal government representative.

If you receive a call from this number, please go to CDPP.gov.au and find their contact number. This is a scam, and the CDPP are putting together a list of people that call to pass onto the AFP, who are investigating these calls.

This guy just left a message on my answering machine saying he was Peter from the ATO calling on behalf of the CDPP saying that they were after
one of us for tax evasion and fraud. He did not use our names at all. Said not to ignore the message and to call back otherwise it would all come
back to get me.?? I called the CDPP and he assured me it is definitely a scam and is being investigated by the federal police. The phone number
this Peter guy used is (02) 6152 8695.

Definately an ATO scam. He also rang us. David Marshall. Had the american/asian call centre type accent. Kept hassling for home phone number and personal details. Was very convincing and direct in trying to scare you with legal action against you for tax fraud and tx evasion registered againt your name. dont ring back and just hang up on this fraudster
