I have also just had 2 calls on my home phone voice mail from ''Officer Nicki Johnson" - computer generated and very hard to understand. got the spiel that it is the Taxation Office and I must call them back on an extremely time sensitive matter and to call them back on (02) 6152 8695 (which is structured like a Canberra number), before they take further action.

sounded dodgy and I am glad I checked on here first, now I can delete and ignore!

These people called one of our clients threatening to take their house and take her of to jail. Definitely a scam. We have informed the ATO. If you get a call from (02) 6152 8695 don't answer. They gave the name of Adam Spencer and Kevin Johnson, funny they didn't sound Aussie though more like Indian.

Thanks for the feedback guys, this number was left on my voice mail at home. When I googled this number I found this website - now I know it's a scam!! No need to respond I guess.

they called me twice today saying they were from the ATO. I just told them I was busy earning my money not trying to rip people off and they hung up.

They have called twice this afternoon saying they were from the ATO; I not so politely told them where to go as I knew they weren't who they said they were, also mentioned the fact that I had reported their phone number to Fraud Squad in Qld. 13/08/15

Received 3 calls from them saying ATO. Demending money. . You could hear they were trying to speak English. Beware

We had a call this morning(9:17) but when we answered, there was no response quickly so we hung up. Then when we weren't home the same day, our phone registered 3 more calls -10:37 ,11:49 & 1:31 - all from the same number -(02) 6153 8695. We have an answering machine but there were no messages left. I went online & found this site. If they ring again & we manage to talk to someone, we might try to string them along for a change.

Had a call from this number (02) 6152 8695 today (13/08/2015) No one on the other end so I rang back. Some foreigner with a tacky English accent saying he was from the ATO. I hung up straight away as I thought something was suss. Checked this site and it seems it is a scam.

They called me back in June & I tried ringing them back because I had checked on this website & realised it was a scam, fortunately for them they didn't answer. Today, 13.8.15 they have tried ringing twice so far, I answer their call (so I can tell the what I think of their scare tactics) but they hang up when you answer! surely someone must have a record of this scumbags 'real' identity? After all they have to apply for the number somehow.....

Have phoned our business 3 times this morning but hanging up and not saying anything. I'm glad I googled the phone number, now I won't try to ring them back.

This is still happening 13/5/15, His name is Peter claiming he is from ATO threatening prosecution for tax fraud if you ignore his call. When is guy going to be stopped. He even stumbled reading out the phone number (02) 6152 8695 . What a shocker !!! Don't fall for it.

Glad I found this site. Had a message from this "Peter" a few days ago. Called the number from my work rather than from home. Looks like the number is now invalid.

These guys tried me twice. Not being at home when they called it went straight to my answering machine, On arrival form work I fell for the scam the first time and called back. They reckon it was someone else they were looking for. Just ignored it the second time. By their accent you can tell they are a bunch of frauds.

Spoke to the CDPP today. They said they had been inundated with complaints over the past 3 weeks. The CDPP confirmed with me that the matter has been referred to the Australian Federal Police. Hang up on them if they call and/or don't call them back.

Yes it's a scam. Apparently the only way I can pay my bill is with cash!

Received a voice message - a very unprofessional one at that ! claiming to be from the ATO and that there is a prosecution pending for tax evasion and fraud, when I called and gave my phone number he did not have me on the system (we are a business but he kept asking for my personal phone number even though that is not the one they called on) - when I asked to confirm who they were he said the ATO and pronounced Canberra wrong several times (I asked him to repeat it several times) - sounded like and Indian call centre, he was Indian and could hear them all in the background.... sounds very sketchy!

I had a message left on my phone from someone called Peter from the ATO regarding tax fraud. He also threatened legal action if I ignored it!!!

i to got a call twice on answering machine same story as above , his name was peter, with accent . my id home phone gave OVERSEAS PRIVATE NUMBER. but left aussie number.( BIG BIG SCAM ). boo to them, if you get a call , give it to them.TO SMART AUSSIES
