this is a major indian call centre australian tax office (ato) scam! do not, i say do not call them back or give any details to them. tell them that you know who they are and blast them to pieces with insults and swear words! they will ask for your credit card details, tax file number etc. do not give them any info whatsoever!

yes got same call on 21/8/15 on answering machine dont bother calling the number it is a scam you should call ato you can find the correct number on google what scumbags

I have just have has a call from a Indian call centre posing that we have we nominated for tax evasion and wilful intent. I just rang the tax office, and they have been receiving these complaints all day. First things first, THE TAX OFFICE NEVER SENDS PHONE MESSAGES like this, they only send gently reminders if there is a poblem. I have now reported this number (02) 6152 8694 and they have put it in their system. Hang up and ignore it, they are repulsive!

ATO tax evasion etc wanting details of my "attorney at law" found on my answering
machine on return from holiday. Ignored it because no corporate body acts in this manner.

Received same scam call last Thursday. I didnt answer and they left message of Tax evasion etc etc all as described by others here. Have noted the number to avoid any future calls.

We just received the same message this morning. From the same number (02) 6152 8694. The quality of the call was shoddy at best. Tax evasion and wilful intend, were charges. Major scam. Do not call them back.

Got a message that says:
Calling from the Australian Tax Office, representative of the Commonwealth Directors of Public Prosecution at Canberra concerning a legal lawsuit under your name lodged by the Australian Tax Office for a case of tax evasion and wilful fraud. I need you or your retained attorney of record to call us back immediately. (02) 6152 5694
Called out of hours and there's no message or automated answering system. What government office doesn't have an out of office message?

I received a message at 3.30pm today on my answering machine along the lines of "Canberra. A legal lawsuit has been filed under your name by the ATO for a case of tax evasion and wilful intent. I need you or your attorney to give us a call immediately on (02) 6152 8694. Thank you and have a blessed day." Fat chance of me even wasting my time calling the number. I would rather spend my time reporting such a scam.

I received a call on 10.08.15 at 4.51pm, phone number ID was private, but American/Philippines male voice left number (02) 6152 8694....on my answering machine. The idiot is pretending to be ATO accusing me of Tax Evasion and Wilful intent. BLOCK THIS NUMBER THEY ARE SCAMMERS.

No ATO officer doesn't not provide their name and ID number nor end a conversation with "HAVE A GOD BLESS DAY"

Got this same one this morning 9:40am 11/8/15

I recently saw this exact scam on Ch9's ACA in Sydney. When the phone was answered immediately (no hold time or any recorded message) by a voice stating Aust. Tax Office, I was suspicious, So I started my call back to this number with the following statement.
"I have to inform you that this call is being recorded in the event you turn out to be a scammer from Mumbai." I then asked "What can we could do about my outstanding taxes?" He then asked how I got this number & said thank you & hung up...
