Same experience as above. Do not provide details. If it was say the ATO, they give you an ATO number to call back to ensure it's legitimate.

Same complaint as the others that have had this call. It is a total scam saying there is a warrant out against us and they are coming to our physical address. Ignore these phone calls, if the government or ATO want to contact you they wouldn't do it in this way.

Had a call from a Brian Allen today, saying he was from the Commonwealth Office of Public Prosecution, and that my house is under surveillance, there is an outstanding warrant for my arrest - for tax evasion. He asked if I knew a barrister or solicitor.

Eveyone can get your address

Trish, anyone can get your address. If you are on the electoral roll, it is open to the public. Also, people buy databases with your contact details on them and the database companies are not particular as to who they sell them to. Your bank, your insurance company, government departments all provide database companies with your details including your full name, your dob, your address etc. Read the fine print next time you get a new bank card or insurance policy - it says they share your details.

Had a call from the CDPP saying "there was a investigation under my name" and to ring them back. He left his name as Brian Allen and also a reference number for when I rang back. I did ring back and got no answer. Now it seemed a bit iffy. So rang CDPP and there is no Brian Allen. The Real CDPP then told me about the scam.

same as above, the guy got narky with me because i said i didn't believe him so i yelled at him and told him not to call again or i will have the police follow this up! i knew it was a scam because if it was anything official like that, the ATO would write to you!! what worries me is that they also know my address

Had message from taxation office saying 'you' owed money and that I needed legal representation because of tax evasion otherwise 'you' may face jail if you don't call. Found it strange that they did not mention a name?? Also my phone number is not listed - reference name given in message was John Mathews based in Canberra - I've ignored as it seems to be a scam
