My third bogus ato call now!! A few months ago I had a lovely chap from the Indian branch of the ato call to tell me that the Federal Police had a warrant for my arrest for tax evasion. They would be at my door in 45 mins, get my papers ready. I said thanks for the heads up I will pack up and leave lol. I was told that "I could run but I could not hide - they will find me" Quite a laugh for me but I understand how it would frighten the elderly. By the way I haven't worked in 15 years, bit hard to get a tax debt!

received a call this morning - exactly the same comments as above. he became very aggressive when I said it sounded like a scam. Went to great lengths to provide his name & ATO (fake) number & got very angry with me when I 'interrupted' his very important message to me. After he had told me about how all of my bank accounts & wages would be frozen, my licence would be taken away, my car would be repossessed etc. he wished me a good day & hung up .. WTF!?!?!?

I had a message on my answering machine from Nicky Johnson from the ATO telling me to return the call to (02) 6152 8675 or legal action would be taken,even though I knew it was a scam it gives you a fright, be careful people. Very hard to understand, I had to listen to it several times, I thing she was Chinese

Have had 2/ 3 calls per day for past week. Answered first 2 then ignored rest. Today they left voice mail chastising me for not returning their call and then the usual threats. Went to police who said they could do nothing but gave me THE LITTLE BLACK BOOK OF SCAMS. Have now reported scam to Office of fair trading who tod me they were unaware of this particular scam!!??

Had the same recording twice now, I worked for the ATO in the past and I can say the ATO would send mail not a phone call, especially as they don't have your number unless you gave it

Received a call from (02) 6152 8675 from a James miller of ato. Said I needed a criminal lawyer from defrauding the Australian govt. They were going to cancel passport and freeze accounts and notify employee of fraud and sell house. Knew this was a scam.

Yep. Just received the automated call and was dumped onto my answering machine. Was asked to call Nicky Johnson at ATO. Definite scammers.

Partner received a call yesterday supposedly from Michael Johnson from the ATO accusing him of fraud.Said he owed over $9000. Told him the call was being recorded by the ATO and reeled off the name of another 4 agencies and told him not to interrupt while he read out the "charges". Asked if partner had any questions and when told no, told him the Australian Federal Police were coming to the house to arrest him.
This afternoon I answered the phone to a recorded message from Nicki Johnson advising of legal action against me (no names mentioned) and I, or my attorney, should ring (02) 6152 8675 "do not disregard this very important message. Goodbye and take care"
Have now reported to that ATO.

Received a phone call. Caller ID indicated an overseas call so I did not answer (I have found that most overseas calls are bogus). A message was left by a woman claiming to be from the ATO and I needed to ring this number ((02) 6152 8675) immediately or action would be taken against me. I checked out this site and found that many other people have also been harassed by these scammers. Thanks to those making entries to verify my suspicions. I contacted the ATO and was told that this has been an ongoing problem.

Keep calling . The last msg said the issue is extremely time sensitive ..

They have called and left a recorded message which I ignored, then a real person called and threatened me the next day! Talk about brazen.

Has just happened to me in NSW, using the Nicki Johnson name and phone number 026152675. I can't think of a worse enough name to call these assh****. Imagine all the elderly people that don't know how to google who get these types of messages and get worried about them.

I have also reported the real ATO and have forward on the police. When I refused to give information, the guy on the line yelled out a line of about 10 expletives (not in an order that made any sense mind you). I had to laugh. Can only hope they get shut down and are fined/jailed. Pretty lame.

Caller said he was the Australian tax office, I owed $7000 and was being sued for Fraud, said I intentionally tried to defraud the ATO, he stated my bank accounts would be frozen, I would lose my house, he said he was going to contact my employers and that he was sending a crime team over to arrest me in 45 mins, I said I would look forward to talking to them, he hung up - Scammers

Just got same message but they left a name: Robby King, I suspected it was suspicious as was a computer generated voice.
