I have had several messages left on my answering machine telling me to call this number (and similar numbers) over the last few weeks - all with a foreign sounding male saying he is an ATO Officer and allegations have been made against me.

Tell the Indians and ato to get rooted they are pieces of sh*t

This was a shocking call. Serious sounding call from the ATO threatening with an arrest warrant or to pay money straight away.

What a detailed script!! be careful guys I nearly fell in.

Received a call from someone who tried to put up american accent and right from the start sounded dodgy as no introduction, verification etc..said there was a legal notice or some rubbish.

Ditto - female foreign sounding voice "Penny" saying something about tax evasion, requiring a Lawyer and criminal proceedings - didn't sound right which is how I come to be here... with everyone else... And I tried to call back but no signal...

Was called at home by indian sounding male, he left two messages, claiming to be from the ATO saying an error in my previous tax returns had resulted in an affidavit being issued for my arrest for three violations of the tax code. Checked with my tax advisor and he advised it was a scam. ATO will never call at home if you are with a registered tax agent.

I also received a scam call claiming to be ATO re. tax evasion as a message on machine. No answer on call back, tell them where to go....

I think I received an ATO scam call today saying there has been a miscalculation on my tax and to call this number or else legal proceedings.
