Mark Brown just left me the same message!!!

Have received several calls from the following number (02) 6152 8659 saying they are the ATO and May issue a warrant for my arrest!!!!!!

Asian caller saying I had a major Tax problem that could end in my going to jail if I didn't call back to resolve it. Got straight onto my PC typed in the No: and saw what is really was. And these pricks call us rude

Received a call from this number yesterday but only heard the message they left today, it was apparently an investigating Officer Mark Brown who was investigating an urgent case of Fraud against me, and was going to issue a warrant for my arrest and put my name on the public registry for all to see, but they do not want to ruin my reputation so please call back............I think not, Screamed SCAM to me and this is now confirmed as I have googled the call back number and found same complaints!!

Just had a call from that no. to say I had a serious tax debt and warrant out for me, when I questioned them they said that they would report me to the authorities and I am not a celebrity to get out of paying tax. I rang the real ATO and they confirmed I had no debt and it was a scam and they took my details to report.

Same message as JP left on my answering machine. Obvious scam.

Got the same message re Tax. As I am retired and have been for 8 years and don't pay Tax I knew it was a scam. My wife & I get at least 3 calls a week from these type of people. If its not Tax it is computer related but they are all after money. I have reached the stage where if I don't get a ID Phone number I don't answer the phone. If they don't want me to know who they are , I don't want to talk to them.

Got a message and knew straight away. I'll call him back on Monday and play along for a bit :) Scam the scammer!

Just got a call from this number. Same as above

Just got same call on answering machine message....these scam are starting to become a daily occurance. I am on the "do not call" register, but they still ring. This is the 2nd time I've had someone from the "ATO" call me, its usually someone at microsoft telling me I need an urgent update on my computer. The government needs to be doing more because there is a lot of vulnerable people out there.

Oh no, I'm being investigated for serious tax evasion? And all the ATO does is use an automated message to advise of this? Must really be very serious and legit.

Just answered the work phone to a blocked number and it was a recording of an Indian(?)man claiming to be from the ATO and urging to call him back on this number.
As this is a new (but I'm guessing reused) business number and I get daily calls for a wrong number, I figured immediately it was not a real call (that, and the fact that I got no response when trying to interject).

Same message same scam. I luckily don't pay tax as I am just a poor pensioner so I knew that it was a scam. i tried reverse phone look up for the number he left me on my answering machine and was diverted here..

Came home to TWO identical messages from this scammer - obviously a recording. Strong American accent from "ATO Investigator Mark Brown". No real threats though, just scare tactics about "a very serious case" to do with our tax, implying we must call this number immediately to lessen the severity of the problem. They are obviously reducing the threatening statements and becoming sneakier, so be careful.

I had the same scam call myself twice, I wonder how many people actually fell for this scam.

I just listened to my messages and i had a tax evasion message on there, they didnt state who in the household was responsible, i naturally rang the number and it diverted, it must be a scam.

Yeah, some Ethnic apparently named Jason O'Connor.
