Got a call on my answering machine saying was being issued warrant this evening for tax evasion if I didn't ring back. As I work for the Tax Office I knew this was scam. Don't fall for it.

I got the same message today. Obviously a scam, but thought I'd have a bit of fun with 'Jason McCormack' who left the message. Rang the number, it diverted out of Australia (overseas ring tone, not Australian ring tone). Same man 'Jason' who left message answered said 'Australian Taxation Office' - told him I was on to him, that he was a scammer and had been reported to Scamwatch - he hung up!

Got the same message 3 times today from this number.
SCAM, please don't fall for this.

Received a threatening message on my answerphone from "Mark Brown" today, which does not state who the message is for - an obvious scam. The message said that if I did not call back on (02) 6152 8693, ASAP there would be a warrant for my arrest and I would go to prison for tax evasion!!! I have no intention of calling back. Cannot understand how anyone could stoop so low! Asian scum bag!!

Received a massage from the American accented "Mark Brown" saying her was from the ATO and a Warrant was issued for tax evasion and by no means should I take this matter lightly as it was a "very serious matter" I also thought it was odd as he left this detailed massage on the answering machine for everyone to here, I tried to call him on number he left (02) 6152 8693 but was not connected. Thought it was odd so looked into his name hance finding this blog!

"Mark Brown"with very American accent left 2 messages on my answer phone saying he was from the ATO and that "warrant may be issued" for tax evasion "very serious matter" if I don't want my good name corrupted, call him straight back. At no time did he mention who the message was for. I tried to call him on number he left (02) 6152 8659) but could not get on to it. Then I read this blog!

Have now received 7 of these messages in 3 days including late Saturday afternoon. Was sure it was a scam but didn't show up here the first time I looked. The most recent message said my attorney should contact him. Then I *Knew* it was scam. Scumbags really upset me.

I have had 16 calls from this number in 4 days and it firstly really really upset me. I got another one today however it was a lady asking me to call Mark Brown immediately and the message was the same word for word as the guy himself had left previously. And that I could go to jail...... This lady left a call back number to call back mark Brown on (02) 6188 5602 however this number does not come up on this site yet.

I got two of these today. The second one was cut off before it finished. Obviously pre-recorded.

I just got a call from this number, same as above. This was on my home number where as the ato only has has my work number. Officer Mark Brown, the issuing of Warrant for my arrest. I rang the number and told them what i knew and they hang up.

Classic response. Had the same this morning from Mr Brown, twice. Did not ring back but checked with ATO to learn it was a scam as suspected. Hope the Federal police can trace the call forward and let us know when 'Mr Brown' next travels here to conduct his investigation.

he is very persistent he goes by the name of Joeseph Vargo most times .after being abused he changed his name but was back on today .i think he needs a mother to love because he never had a father

Received 3 calls from these idiots today with "Do you have a criminal lawyer because we the tax department are going to sue you" .Wouldn't it be poetic justice if we started harassing them.

Also received a call -which I hung up on - and followup message on the answering machine. Apparently from 'Officer Mark Brown, Senior Investigating Officer, ATO'. Same comments as for prior comments here.

Mark Brown (Seems like Asian - Americanised accent) left same message to ring the same ph today -3 sep 2015 on 3 occasions. Flag 1.
When I called him on 'his' direct number he answered as Mark Robinson. Flag 2.
Flag 3. He posed "have i been contacted by the police as i was about to be arrested."
I let him go thru his spiel until he asked the question did i "intend to defraud the govt yes /no".
Then i yelled at him for upsetting people with this scam.
He hung up.
It is pretty obvious and I had to hold myself back from lol as his nonsense got more and more ridiculous...
This group is out of touch with laws and customs in Australia and so appeared VERY threatening in its approach. [Our Laws don't actually allow that behaviour from authoritites] I have never had an Asian scammer before and this does type of bullying seems consistent with the various African (?) ones over Visacard ph scammers that I also get from time to time. :(

I had two calls from Mark Brown, have reported the number to the ATO, ACA, these freaks need to be stopped.

Just recieved a phone call stating I was going to jail for tax fraud/ evasion. Doesn't state who is going to jail?? Obviously a scam so many complaints for the no. I'm also on the do not call register.

They are still trying - decided to have some fun and called the number - They hung up when I told them I worked for the Australian government fraud unit????.
