Clearly (based on the strong Indian accent) this is a scam. But to what end ? What exactly are they trying to scam you with (apart from being annoying). Is there a 50 cent fee for ringing the number ? (for example) Or is it a nothing call ? WHY ? We know Indians seem to top the ratings as being clearly identifiable, but I would normally not put them in the Dumb and Dumber basket.

Same message on answer phone received, phone ID not recorded. Disconcerting to be threatened with arrest. Message didn't identify me by name. ATO would never leave such a message without identifying their intended recipient. SCAM

Looks like Jason O'Connor has hit again, the name certainly doesn't match the accent on the end of the phone! I too was scared for a moment until in Googled this thread and phoned that number which could not be connected!

A message was left on my answering machine yesterday stating the caller, a certain Jason O'Connor, was working for the ATO.
A warrant had been issued for my arrest.
Very strange as I have a reputation for being law-abiding.
I returned the call this morning and challenged the person who answered the telephone.
He was then abusive and informed me to not call again.
The SA Police were very helpful and stated the problem was yet another scam.
May pay to watch out for this Jason O'Connor person.
I wonder just who he is?
The name is certainly Irish in origin. The accent of the person who called, and answered the telephone was, however, Asian.
Thank you!

"Jason" is still at it. Same scam, left a message saying "ATO calling - police on the way etc." Thanks all for your posts, as it made it easy to rule this one out as garbage. Cheers Reverse Australia!
