The latest scam they are trying is they are from the Australian Taxation Office and Police will be attending with a warrant. When challenged on their name, their real name not Michael Smith and their rank in the organization they hung up.

Reported to the ATO today who confirmed this is a scam.

Still going strong. Go a call to day and decided to check the number.

Received same message but on (02) 6140 3484

As per the previous comments regarding ATO. I could only understand about 6 words because "Jason" sounds like his tongue is taped to the roof of his mouth.

Same as above, male identified as Jason O'Connor from ATO suggesting a warrant of arrest has been issued and police will be attending shortly. Phone number left (02) 6140 3490. SCAM !!!

Had this call the other day he is a persistent scammer had this one about 4 times previously I just laugh at it now Coz they clearly haven't done there research even if there was a lawsuit or a tax issue both cases you would get a letter about it not a phone call and the real ATO don't threaten legal action

Looks like they are back at it, I received 2 messages in the course of 10 minutes.

Received a message to call back this number regarding ATO fraud etc. Knew it was a scam straight away but I worry about vulnerable people in these circumstances. Guy didn't leave his name, but I thought he sounded Scandinavian. He was saying ATO but his accent made it sound like ITO. Have reported to ATO.

Dammit. I wanted to call back and tell them to stop scamming me but no one answered. What a pack of low life's. This is a chargeable offence to use a telecommunications carrier to commit fraud. Why don't the cops do something? God know they'd track me down if I tried the same thing! Pfft

we got this call from the o2 6140 3490 from a man calling himself Adam Smith saying someone? name not mentioned... in the house was guilty of tax fraud and warrants were issued etc...I suffer from a serious anxiety disorder and was in tears over all this...still reeling... and its unbelievably cruel what these people are doing. Wish they could be stopped.

I received a call today from a Jacob Stafford an officer from the( ITO) Investigation Taxation Office legal department Sdyney (02) 6140 3490 ; advised I have not been paying enough tax , a warrant for my arrest will be issued, all assets in my name seized and I will be going to prison, of course comments have a wonderful day at the end of the message. Very convincing operater.

Got a call today saying it was from ATO for tax fraud/evasion, questioned who he was and where cos I reported to WA Police & ATO, who confirmed it was a scam, these lowlives!

Scammer reckons hes from the ATO threatening i will be arrested if i dont ring back because ive been charged with criminal fraud.Good one!!

I had Alex from the "ITO" call twice today on my work number. That recorded message is certainly working overtime!!!!!

report to Skype as he has to get the number from someone.. and Skype is the only way. Skype can maybe trace back to who the scammers are

Had this phone call today. Sounded very American and had problems understanding the person on the other end of the phone. Assumed it was a scam. Hate to think of those vulnerable people out there that may get conned.

Got the "call" today, Sept 29 2015 and hope these scumbags are caught they quoted the (02) 6140 3140 number along with criminal proceedings were in motion. Do NOT give them any details.

They're tying in in Vicoria now. Same thing: Tax evasion, police in attendance etc etc.. (02) 6140 3490

Last Sept 24, a certain Stephanie King phoned me and claimed to be from the Australian Taxation Office in Sydney asking if I have a good criminal lawyer as I am about to be arrested for tax evasion; when I asked for her manager's name, she gave me Jacob Stafford and the number is (02) 6140 3490; then hang up on me. I told her that the number she gave me is not a NSW number she got angry and hang up.
