Whoop-de-doo, this was my first time getting scammed. I fell for it hook, line and sinker. The jerk took $500 from me. I only realised what an obvious scam setup it was after the call was over, the panic was wearing off, and my pockets were that much lighter. I hope my stupidity spares someone else the existential dread and subsequent humiliation I experienced today.

Me too received a missed call. Looks like scam.

I received a phone call which went through to voicemail it corresponds with everyone else’s complain of it being a Scam don’t bother answering it or responding to it

Same message as before, clear scam and all should be arrested for harrasment.

I was told they have my name on file and if I don't call back they will arrest me. It is showing the call is from Canberra.

Same experience as everyone else. The caller ID said that they were calling from Canberra, looks more convincing that way.

Don’t forget to go to the ATO scam report page and report this and any other numbers that leave these kinds of messages.

I received the same message. I work in the APS, this is not how we operate, ignore it.

Definitely scammers. The real ATO would follow due process.

Also received a voicemail due to fortunate timing of unable to take the call at the time.

Advice to others who happens to land here - Just ignore it and not waste your time following up despite the person sounding very Australian which does give a bit of credibility to the call but the way it was worded comes on too strong / aggressive on how any official department or agencies operates - they would not threaten you and would leave you unique information known to you as a reference.

Voicemail saying I've filed my tax wrong and that the ATO is filing lawsuit against me.

Caller: Scammer

Voicemail that sounded like a pre-recording stating there has been a lawsuit filed against me and that I should call back as soon as I got the message or I would be arrested.

I rec'd a voicemail which is the same as the above persons ... A lawsuit has been filled against me. This matter is very time sensitive. If I don't call back immediately I will be arrested.
I tried to ring the number back but no one answered, just said to leave a message.
